Anthony Albanese Joining a16z’s Crypto Venture

In a press release issued by a16z, Katie Haun, a general partner at a16z, revealed that Anthony Albanese, the chief regulatory officer at New York Stock Exchange (NYSE), is joining Andreessen Horowitz, a venture capital firm founded by Marc Andreessen. Anthony will work with a16z’s crypto venture. Albanese may lead the regulatory outreach efforts at a16z’s crypto venture as an operating partner in mid of the next month.

Anthony will not work Alone

It is also revealed that Anthony will work alongside Jeff Amico, a16z’s crypto policy counsel. Jeff recently joined Andreessen Horowitz from Cravath Swaine & Moore. Jeff also served as general counsel at Airswap. However, now Jeff and Anthony will work together at a16z’s crypto venture.

Anthony has a Good Experience Regarding his Work

Before joining Andreessen Horowitz’s crypto venture firm, Anthony had several work experiences available in his portfolio. Since 2016, Anthony has worked with the New York Stock Exchange as the chief regulatory officer. Prior to the New York Stock Exchange, Anthony ran the New York State Department of Financial Services, an agency that inspects the introduction of highly carved BitLicense for crypto firms. Anthony was also a long-term partner at a major law firm that helped him specialize in securities legal actions.

According to Katie, Very few people are able to shift from government sectors like the New York Stock Exchange to institutions like a16z’s crypto venture. However, someone with seriousness or dignity is needed to engage with regulators worldwide. Anthony has that merit alongside hanging with crypto natives and development teams to create the world’s next great technology.

Katie also added that Anthony could bring a long-term approach to his correlation with both regulators and entrepreneurs. There is an immense need for highly skilled and experienced lawyers like Anthony. They are not only passionate about crypto but also want to see regulations applied in a modern way.

As a New York Stock Exchange, Anthony supervised regulations and worked with the State, Federal, and International levels of regulators. Anthony is the better option to help Andreessen’s effort.

Scope of Andreessen Horowitz

In 2018, Andreessen Horowitz raised $300 million as a crypto-focused fund. After that, this year, in April, the firm again raised $515 million as a blockchain-focused firm. However, their latest firm aims to invest in blockchain startups, including payments, DeFi, and Web3. The firm has also invested in several portfolios, including crypto exchange.
