Ex co-head of European government affairs at Citi, Ioana Surpateanu, recently joined the decentralized finance project DIA, a DeFi project focusing on crowd-verified financial data.
What does DeFi DIA expects from the latest appointment?
After spending 4 years with the bank, Surpateanu bid her farewell at Citi on March 12. She is now appointed as chief strategy officer and is entrusted with the task of running the DIA labs, a grants program that offers to fund innovative project developers on the DeFi network.
Surpateanu will work closely with the executive team and help DIA focus on regulatory discussions in Europe.

DIA or Decentralized Information Asset is an open-source, data and oracle platform for the DeFi ecosystem.
Along with ensuring the proper functioning of DIA Labs, the former co-head’s main focus will be to interact with policymakers and regulators to guide the launch of a DeFi education and promotional campaign. She will also see to the development of a platform that will help empower women in the emerging tech sector.

Ioana Surpateanu is of the opinion that DeFi has considerably and swiftly provided both users and creators access to various financial products and instruments. And to ensure it’s further development and growth is provided the required push in the right direction, the new paradigm is dependent on certain set conditions, which include but are not limited to transparency and impeccable data sets.
