  • To develop and grow the tech sector or Northwest Arkansas, the council has decided to offer $10,000 worth of Bitcoin to entrepreneurs and tech professionals that relocate to the region.
  • The initiative is named Bitcoin and a Bike, which is a part of another broader initiative called Life Works Here. The Bitcoin and a Bike initiative will also offer a street or mountain bike other than Bitcoin to recipients so that they can enjoy mountain biking trails in the region.
  • The initiative has also been supported by Walmart’s founder’s grandsons, Steuart Walton & Tom Walton. Walmart is the biggest organization to be headquartered in the region.

A recent announcement from the council of Northwest Arkansas revealed that it will now offer $10,000 in Bitcoin (BTC) to all entrepreneurs and tech professionals who look forward to relocating to the region. This offering is a part of its non-profit’s broader incentive offer to grow and develop the region’s technology sector. The broader incentive offer is named the “Bitcoin & a Bike.”

Following the announcement, Northwest Arkansas became the first-ever region of the country that serves cryptocurrency incentives for those who want to relocate. Northwest Arkansas is the central American state with several big plans for 2022, the majority of which centers on developing and growing its spreading out blockchain industry. The CEO and President of the Northwest Arkansas Council, Nelson Peacock, said that the tech industry in the region had constantly been increasing, and this effort was planned to fascinate and bring fresh talents to the developing region.

Who Is Eligible For The Initiative?

The offer of Bitcoin incentives is primarily focused on professionals and entrepreneurs who are experts in blockchain and its related technologies, however, it is open for various potential individuals who are looking forward to settling in the region. Whoever is interested in receiving incentives have the opportunity to submit their requests online at Finding NWA, and the council of Northwest Arkansas would later review these applications with simultaneous support of The Center of Blockchain Excellence at the University of Arkansas.

Bitcoin & A Bike

Other than receiving $10,000 worth of Bitcoin, the applicants would also receive a mountain bike or a street bike so that the recipients could enjoy the fantastic paved paths and trails of mountain biking in the region. Recipients who do not wish to get a mountain bike would have an alternative to get free membership of cultural facilities and world-class arts, which include Walton Arts Center, The Momentary, Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art, and TheatreSqaured.

However, this effort is the following step of another successful initiative called Life Works Here, which is also aimed at attracting the best talents to the region. Since the launch of this initiative in November 2020, 35,000 applications have been generated under this offer, which involves people from more than 50 states and 115 countries.

The Support Of Walmart!

The University of Arkansas’ director of Blockchain Center of Excellence, Mary Lacity, said that they are pretty excited to see their region grow with Bitcoin & a Bike, and this isn’t just to gather new talent in the region but also to create interest for ongoing work focused on blockchain in the region. The grandsons of founders of the biggest organization headquartered in Arkansas, Walmart, Steuart Walton, and Tom Walton, have supported this initiative in the region.
