NFTs of Rock Band Nirvana from February

American band’s rare pictures of big label debut albums concerts will be tokenized and available from next month for auction.

Many memories align with the band’s name in people’s minds from the 90s when rock band ‘Nirvana’ made its big debut with its album ‘Nevermind.’ Its release date was September 24. After six days, the band had a live show in Philadelphia. October 1, 1991, was when the band was performing at the famous venue of J.C Dobbs.

The moments were captured by then photographer Faith West and some of the pictures were never disclosed in public. Those rare photos are now being digitized, and the auction for the same will go live on February 20, 2022. The auction would have artworks made from pictures and never-seen-before images, which will go live on the 55th would-be birthday of iconic band’s leader, Kurt Cobain.

Images of launching artworks and NFTs are available for display on Rarible, an online platform for creators and developers to showcase their artworks or NFTs. This collection will have photographs, black & white, and some “acid washed prints, some moving pictures forming GIFs. Auction for Nirvana digital assets is organized by an NFT minting startup, Pop Legendz, which digitizes music industry-related items.

There were approximately 27 images to be sold individually, 15 artworks made from a series of never-seen-photographs, and three GIFs made from 10 photos each. Different items will have different costs from $99 up to $250,000. However, some unique items and arrangements to purchase, like debit card payments, have been made for Nirvana Fans.

The price bracket decided for items has also been disclosed as the image will cost 1ETH each and 67ETH for each GIF. This is the base price for the auction, and the actual buying cost may be higher. However, prices have already been set at a higher side still; it feels justified because of its fans’ popularity and legendary image.

The money collected through this auction will go to charity but for different causes. Half of the charity amount will go to the Trevor Project, a trust working for the LGBTQ+ community, helping prevent their suicides. Another half of the amount will be provided to Grid Alternatives, an organization working to install solar panels for middle-class families. The charity fulfills both social and environmental duties.

Items available for auction are already being termed as rare collectibles because they were not available at the moment of the album release; instead of popularity and demand, they didn’t go public. So the NFTs are already excited as soon as announcements have been made.
