OnlyFans, a website that provides content subscription services based in London, has taken a step towards integrating blockchain technology. The feature is meant to allow its users to show their authenticated Non-Fungible Tokens(NFTs) as their profile pictures. The subscription service has recently announced the experiment in the NFTs sector.

OnlyFans is known for its direct funding for content creators, the firm’s pay-per-view (PPV) feature, and the one-time tips.

The rapid emergence of Non-Fungible Tokens(NFTs)

According to Ami Gan, the CEO of OnlyFans, the aim is to empower the creators to their full potential. This feature is the first step to explore the NFTs and the role they can play on their platform.

The CEO further highlights that the NFT profile pictures integration is for Ethereum based Non-Fungible Tokens. The Ethereum logo will be there for the users to know they are verified.

OnlyFans is realizing the trend of NFTs now but a lot of prominent celebrities and brands are already associated with them. Although the company did not reveal whether it will support the other blockchain NFTs or not in the future.

This step is a bit similar to that of Twitter which integrated NFT profile pictures last month. Although Twitter’s integration of NFTs was criticized by Elon Musk when he tweeted it to be annoying.

Earlier there was news about other entities giving a thought to the role of NFTs and their integration. Instagram head, Adam Mosseri highlighted Instagram exploring the NFTs sector whereas Meta is also experimenting with the technology.

Non-Fungible Tokens(NFTs), the sub-sector in the cryptocurrency industry, has gained immense popularity and attraction in recent times. Their trend is so much that the newly emerged projects like Bored Ape Yacht Club, etc have been quite fascinating for celebs like Justin Bieber, Gwyneth Paltrow, etc.

Some of the most popular and trending Non-Fungible Tokens(NFTs) projects that are based on the Ethereum network like the Bored Ape Yacht Club(BAYC), Axie Infinity, CryptoPunks, Mutant Ape Yacht Club(MAYC) Cool Cats, Meebits, etc. The trend of NFT profile pictures might increase following Twitter and OnlyFans decisions.
