Is Dr. Craig the Bitcoin Mastermind ‘Satoshi Nakamoto’ for real?

  1. The real identity of the enigmatic ‘Satoshi Nakamoto’ remains a mystery
  2. Dr. Craig’s claim to be Satoshi Nakamoto had some substance to it but not enough to make the world believe.

This has been one of the mysteries of the world of cryptocurrency. Many speculations have been put forth, but the anonymity of Satoshi Nakamoto has probably become as infamous as the mystery of the Bermuda Triangle. In this article, we are going to dig deep into the events that circulated around the inception of Bitcoin and the air around the infamous name of an individual or group of individuals, ‘Satoshi Nakamoto’.

Curious Case of Enigmatic ‘Satoshi Nakamoto’

Bitcoin was founded after the downfall of the economy during the infamous financial crisis of 2008. To confront the centralized structure, Bitcoin’s inception was conceived using blockchain technology. Bitcoin was created out of an emotion fueled by extreme dissatisfaction with the existing framework of the financial system.

This decentralized digital currency was founded by ‘Satoshi Nakamoto’, an anonymous identity. Bitcoin was introduced to the world in a subtle yet overt way in a whitepaper titled ‘Bitcoin: A Peer-to-Peer Electronic Cash System’, published on October 31st, 2008. This document outlined the framework and outlook of this peer-to-peer electronic cash system, which was pretty much the inception of subsequent blockchain technologies.

While Bitcoin gained more and more popularity along with whooping tracking, Nakamoto remained an enigma. Initially, Nakamoto’s communications were quite evident in forums and emails but all of that ceased abruptly and surprisingly in 2010. Since then, there have been many speculations and myriad blabbers regarding the true identity of Nakamoto. However, one speculation made quite a splash when Dr.Craif Stetven Wright self-proclaimed himself as the infamous Satoshi Nakamoto in May 2016.

Self-Proclamation of Dr Craig Steven

Two leading publications, Wired and Gizmodo, published several articles in December 2015 suggesting Dr. Wright to be a potential mastermind behind the next-gen innovation of Bitcoin. Articles surfaced containing various leaked documents consisting of emails, legal transcripts, and accounting forms, aiming for Wright to be the mastermind of Bitcoin. These quickly escalated murmurs to a woke thunderclap regarding Wright’s direct or indirect association with Satoshi Nakamoto.

In another interesting turn of events, in May 2016, surprisingly, Wright himself stepped forward and declared openly to the world in a blog post that he indeed is Satoshi Nakamoto. The declaration was followed by cryptographic proof, which linked him to the early blocks that were mined in the past by Nakamoto.

The announcement became the biggest news in the crypto world and it garnered various discrete reactions from crypto enthusiasts. While Dr. Craig might have thought that he was going to get a Tony Stark kind of reception of glorious acceptance after disclosing his Iron Man pertaining to Satoshi Nakamoto’s identity, that wasn’t really the case. Media outlets immediately disregarded Wright’s claim

Conclusion

As of now, it is just a mystery as to who Satoshi Nakamoto is. This claim of Wright also remains a mystery, something that is inconclusive and without closure.  Wright’s claims and evidence, however, have made some believe that he is the mastermind, while for others, he is pretty much a clout-chaser.
