Saumya Bhavsar appointed as General Counsel of Libra Networks

  • The Libra Association staffs up by hiring Saumya Bhavsar as the legal advisor of the Libra Networks.
  • Saumya has previously worked for regulators namely the Comptroller of the United States, Euroclear banks and Credit Suisse.
  • She is enthusiastic about working with the Libra networks and believes that the Libra Network can bring significant changes in the existing payment system.

It has been reported that Libra Association is staffing up by hiring new employees to enhance their services and according to a latest Press Release published on Libra’s official page, the Facebook led organisation stated that they have appointed Saumya Bhavsar as General Counsel of Libra Networks.It is to be noted that Libra Networks is a subsidiary of Libra Association and is designed to manage the operations of Libra’s payment system.

Will Saumya Bhavsar be Able To Uplift Libra’s Position

Saumya Bhavsar is a lawyer who has worked with Credit Suisse and UBS, world’s leading financial services provider companies and now will work as the General Counsel (legal advisor) of Libra Networks. In the Press Release she mentioned that she is excited to become a part of Libra Association as she sees the organisation as a source which enables inclusive global financial system in a better way. She believes that the Libra payment system can change the industry and come up with exceptional financial ideas and inclusions when they are needed the most. Interestingly, Saumya has spent most of her career in the private sector, she also has wide knowledge of the public sector as well. It seems that Saumya can take Libra to another level of success and reach new highs with her experience of 25 years in financial institutions and regulatories. 

James Emmett, Managing Director of Libra Networks believes that the knowledge, deep understanding and specialisation of Saumya Bhavsar will play an important role in introducing and managing the blockchain based payment system.

It is to be noted that the Libra Association is an independent member association and is responsible for governing the Libra Network and expanding the Libra project led by Facebook. It has been observed that the Libra Association is having a hard time from the past few months and it has even lost a few of its initial partners, which includes PayPal, Visa and Mastercard. It is now to be seen how much Libra will be strengthened by hiring regulators.
