Gwyneth Paltrow, an American actress, and businesswoman revealed on Monday that she will be giving away $500,000 in Bitcoin in cooperation with Block’s Cash App.
For the holidays, the actress known for her performances in Iron Man and other Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) films will give away $500,000 in Bitcoin or around 10 BTC.
Users who follow Cash App’s Twitter handle and submit their $cashtag with a remark will be entered to win the prize. According to Paltrow’s press statement, the deal will expire on January 14th. Participants can also use Instagram to participate in the contest by uploading their $cashtag. The prize will be divided among many winners and distributed through the App.
In the last several months, a slew of musicians, athletes, entertainment companies, and even legislators have flocked to the crypto realm.
For example, Miami mayor Frances Suarez, who has long been a proponent of cryptocurrencies, declared a month ago that Miami residents will receive “free bitcoins.”
Paltrow claims that the widely used payment method aids in the democratization of bitcoin trading.
How to participate?
To be eligible for the prize, Twitter users must post their $Cashtags on Twitter and Instagram. Fans will have the opportunity to get up to $100 in Bitcoin.
Fans who leave comments on Paltrow’s Instagram and Twitter posts will be picked at random and compensated in Bitcoin up to $100. Paltrow is the most recent celebrity to join Cash App’s November promotion.
Paltrow’s account has been hacked
Paltrow’s account may have been hacked to promote cryptocurrency, according to some users.
No, her account is not hacked. She also posted a Screenshot to prove that she was behind the bitcoin giveaway.
Paltrow said she first learned about Bitcoin and cryptocurrencies while watching an Apple TV show in an interview with Elle magazine. The actress saw a lack of female participation in the industry and decided to make a “tutorial call.”
The actress made waves earlier this month when she invested in TeraWulf, a sustainable Bitcoin mining startup that had a bumpy start owing to a crypto market drop.
As a consequence of these chats, Paltrow has a greater grasp of Bitcoin, blockchain technology, and platforms based on it, as well as “different tokens and NFTs.” As a result, the actress put her money into Terawulf, a Bitcoin mining firm with a “sustainable” business model.
Paltrow may consider creating a DAO for her fans in the future, but she admits she is merely “thinking” about it right now. Furthermore, the Oscar winner hinted at the idea of having a store in the Metaverse, albeit she didn’t mention a specific project.
Despite its “macho” sound, she told Elle that “crypto isn’t just for a 23-year old techie guy to play with it”.
Gwyneth had also urged women to break out from the crypto industry’s male-centric norms by learning about Blockchain, Bitcoins, and Web3.
