  • It has partnered with 0Chain to improve network scalability and reduce gas fees.

People have already witnessed the immense potential of blockchain technology, which was previously limited to just financial markets and payments, marking its steps in healthcare, medical, supply chain, and other sectors as well. Distributed ledger technology (DLT) is being explored by enthusiasts and platforms are coming with even more unique applications.

The Internet of Things (IoT) technology has already become a prominent part of our lives, with people using smart refrigerators, air conditioners, and other internet-connected physical devices to carry out previously demanding daily tasks at their fingertips.

Industrial revolutions are considered milestones in human evolution that mark the advancement of mankind. The third, called the digital revolution, was marked by the digitalization of data and the boundless spread of information, through previously unimaginable sources. However, it is also criticised for the lack of security and control around data, making it mutable, unreliable, and breaching the personal space of individuals.

The fourth revolution is already underway and led by emerging technologies like blockchain, to sculpt a unique statue of secure digital transactions, a decentralised ecosystem, and a safeguarded transfer and use of personal data. The huge ship is bound to be captained by IoT, which will redefine the human to machine relations and physical device intelligence. The implementation of Artificial Intelligence (AI) will make the captain even more stern and sail the ship with more profoundness.

However, it is also evident that such robust technology, if applied in the present centralised governance system, would not be able to achieve its full potential. In addition, the data, now even more advanced including human habits, retina, and voice data, could pose a threat to people, if not handled properly and left at the mercy of third parties. A decentralised protocol is required to be the base for running such booming technology.

Enter Augmate Network

Started in 2014, as a device management platform for Augmented Reality (AR) glasses, the platform became one of Google’s earliest partners in its conquest of Google Glasses. Although several companies showed interest in such technology, these were, however, open slates when purchased. It allowed users to connect glasses to any network, and upload any application, which troubled companies that wanted to control and manage the access of their users.

In 2015, the network drafted and deployed the Wearable Environment Manager (WEM). It was a list of policies surrounding user and device management, and it  successfully partnered with corporate giants like Toyota and UPS. They even earned a patent for their WEM platform. Soon the company realised the crack in the present centralised architecture of IoT devices and researched blockchain as the solution to fixing the crack.

Partnering with 0Chain

To expand its use cases, the company extensively searched for blockchain protocols out there, that best aligned with their vision. They wanted a scalable network with low gas fees, which, seeing the huge technical demands for IoT technology, could turn into a game changer.

The search finally rested and Augmate found the partner that would best boost the network and add value to it. It successfully partnered with 0Chain and found it the missing piece to the jigsaw puzzle of cheap blockchain transactions. The inherent infrastructure of locking tokens facilitates near-free storage and transactions over the platform.

Conclusion

0Chain’s unique feature of allowing the creation of parallel chains and even threads in these existing chains can greatly help the network achieve high scalability, instance finality, and lower levels of latency. The platform already boasts of handling 1 million transactions per second, and seeing the mammoth use of IoT devices, although good, even such a number will fall short in the near future.
