Hedera is an enterprise-grade public distributed ledger that uses a hashgraph consensus algorithm rather than a traditional blockchain. Developed by Leemon Baird and launched in 2019, it is governed by the Hedera Governing Council — a body of up to 39 term-limited global organizations including Google, IBM, Boeing, and Deutsche Telekom.
