Institutions Scoop 185K ETH, ETH Price Surges 44% — Rally Ahead?

Key Insights

  • Abraxas Capital moved $399M in ETH off exchanges in just three days, pushing ETH price.
  • Ethereum surged from $1,800 to $2,600, gaining 44% during accumulation.
  • Technical charts show ETH may be entering an impulsive growth phase.

During three days, Abraxas Capital withdrew 185,309 ETH, worth $399 million—as the price of Ethereum rose from $1,800 to $2,600. Technical analysis suggests that such a price increase may mark the start of a new impulsive growth phase.

Major Accumulation by Abraxas Capital, Pushes ETH Price

Abraxas Capital Management has recently been making major withdrawals of Ethereum (ETH) from exchanges. According to Lookonchain data, the fund withdrew 185,309 ETH, which is $399 million, in three days.

These transfers originated from Binance hot wallets and were sent to wallets explicitly marked “Heka Fund” by Abraxas Capital.

Over this period, ETH price increased from $1,800 to $2,600, an increase of 44%. The withdrawals were between 1,000 and over 4,500 ETH. The constant flow of buyers is depleting the supply of ETH for sale and is probably increasing the price.

Such rapid and constant acquiring is indicative of high confidence in Ethereum’s current market stage. This trend was accompanied by increased activity of major stakeholders, or “whales,” who can influence supply constraints and influence short-term market movements.

ETH Price Market Outlook and Technical Setup

According to technical analysis, Ethereum seems to have entered a new bullish period. Crypto analyst Trader Tardigrade offers a chart explaining Ethereum’s progression from recovery, correction, and impulse stages.

The chart shows that the current phase resonates with the 2020–2021 period when ETH rose from below $200 to surpass $4,000.

Discussions of the current trends are consistent with Ethereum moving again into an impulsive period. Continuing the same trend as before, Ethereum may be moving towards the Fibonacci 2.618 target, which is approximately $23,818.

The most recent minimum value of Ethereum was around $1,384, and it has now surpassed $2,600. If price momentum continues, this stage may push ETH significantly above its current levels, supported by the institutional investors’ buying.

Stablecoin Growth and Layer 2 Scaling

Supporting the bullish momentum, Ethereum continues to dominate in stablecoin volume with $118.93 billion in assets. In the last half a year, Ethereum’s total stablecoin market value rose by 45%, and within the year, it went up by 52%.

This sustained uptrend indicates growing usage and demand on Ethereum mainnet, which is usually considered a positive indicator of network life.

Nevertheless, even though Ethereum’s Layer 2 solutions improve speed and decrease fees, their usage is still relatively low. All Ethereum Layer 2 networks together hold approximately $10 billion in stablecoin value at the moment. At the same time, Solana alone supports $11.79 billion in stablecoins, while Sui accumulates $897 million.

Although Ethereum’s Layer 2 networks are still relatively small, there is still a lot of room for growth at this early stage. Because of the persisting high transaction fees, users may switch to scaling solutions, thus increasing ETH for bridging and transaction fees processing.

Altcoin Cycle and Ethereum’s Position

A separate market graph indicates a possible alignment between Ethereum and the general altcoin market cycle. When the altcoin market cap rises and Bitcoin’s dominance drops, this is typically a sign of an “altcoin season.”

Once Bitcoin has strengthened, these altcoin seasons usually start because funds and interest from investors move to assets such as Ethereum.

Ethereum, the best asset by market cap among alts, tends to drive trends in the broader altcoin sector. When altcoin activity picks up, ETH is often one of the first to gain from its deep liquidity, strong institutional interest, and wide use in DeFi, NFTs, and stablecoin platforms.

The previous altcoin seasons, shown on the chart, usually follow the decrease in the share of the cryptocurrency market of Bitcoin. It appears Ethereum might be entering a similar phase, at a time of substantial collecting efforts by Abraxas Capital and other investors.
