Key Insights:
- Circle stock surged 800%+ since IPO, hitting $299 before closing at $260.54.
- VanEck now holds more Circle shares than CEO Jeremy Allaire.
- Ark Invest sold $110M in CRCL shares after a 3x return but still owns 3.8M shares.
Circle stock surged 20% on Monday, continuing its explosive run since debuting on Wall Street. Shares opened at $31 earlier this month and touched an intraday peak of $299 before closing at $260.54.
The rally positioned Circle as a top crypto-linked equity in 2025. Growing institutional interest and U.S. regulatory tailwinds helped drive momentum as investors sought stable crypto exposure through equities.
Circle Stock Surges Amid Broader Crypto Momentum
Since its June 5 IPO, Circle Internet Financial, the issuer of the USDC stablecoin, has gained more than 800%. This increase comes as momentum returns to the crypto sector, supported by legislative efforts and new partnerships across the financial industry.
Circle shares rose sharply after the Senate passed the GENIUS Act, which proposes a federal framework for stablecoins. Though the bill still requires approval from the House, the move was viewed as progress for regulatory clarity. Circle’s stock was trading around $150 before the Senate vote and crossed $260 after it passed.
The company also gained from its new collaboration with fintech firm Fiserv. Fiserv announced plans to launch a digital asset platform that will use Circle’s technology. Analyst Jeff Cantwell from Seaport Research Partners noted, “This is a nice ‘win’ for CRCL which highlights the company’s ongoing rise.”
Cathie Wood’s Ark Invest Trims Stake After Early Gains
Ark Invest, led by Cathie Wood, sold 415,000 Circle shares on Monday, totaling approximately $110 million. These sales came from three of Ark’s funds: ARKK, ARKW, and ARKF. The firm began reducing its stake following the stock’s sharp gains, having entered at much lower prices during the IPO.
Despite this reduction, Ark still holds around 3.8 million Circle shares. The firm invested $376 million shortly after Circle went public, when shares traded under $100. The sale suggests Ark may be locking in gains after the value of its holdings tripled within weeks.

Circle stock closed Monday with a nearly 10% gain even after Ark’s sale, indicating that market demand remains strong. Analysts noted that heavy institutional interest likely helped absorb the selling pressure and maintain momentum.
Institutional Interest Grows as VanEck Becomes Top Holder
Asset manager VanEck has emerged as the largest holder of Circle shares, surpassing CEO Jeremy Allaire’s position. VanEck CEO Matthew Sigel confirmed that Circle now makes up 13% of the firm’s MVDAPP index. The company also has exposure through additional strategies.
VanEck’s large stake shows growing interest from traditional financial firms. Circle is seen by many as a more stable option for crypto exposure, as its USDC product plays a central role in blockchain-based transactions.
During its IPO, Circle received overwhelming demand. Reports indicate the offering was 25 times oversubscribed. That level of interest is rare, especially for a company focused on digital currencies. Since listing, Circle has outpaced Coinbase and Robinhood in early growth, reaching a valuation of over $70 billion in just 17 days.
Market Conditions and Policy Tailwinds Add Fuel
Circle stock also benefited from improving market sentiment. U.S. equity indices climbed Monday as geopolitical tensions eased. The Dow added 374.96 points, and oil prices fell 7%, easing inflation concerns.
That backdrop helped boost investor confidence across growth sectors, including crypto. Circle’s alignment with fintech and regulation gave it an advantage.
The GENIUS Act remained a key catalyst. While not yet law, the proposal was viewed as a step toward stablecoin adoption. Circle, already a major issuer, stood to benefit if federal standards emerged.
Still, the IPO pricing drew criticism. Some analysts questioned whether Circle left too much upside on the table. With current attention shifting to long-term revenue and regulatory positioning, the firm’s next earnings cycle could determine if the rally holds.
