Ethereum CME Gap Finally Filled, $5,000 Breakout Incoming?

Key Insights:

  • Ethereum price has filled its CME gap between $4,092 and $4,261.
  • Analysts urged traders to continue buying ETH at the dip.
  • Vitalik Buterin revealed plans to focus on ZK-snarking, default privacy, ultralight nodes, and self-custody.

Ethereum (ETH) has finally closed the gap on the CME exchange following its price decline on the daily chart.

This move has raised expectations about the ETH price rallying towards a potential breakout at $5,000.

Several analysts and market participants believe the Ethereum price will recover from its current lows to reclaim new highs.

Ethereum Closes Gap on CME

In an X post, crypto analyst Rekt Capital highlighted that ETH has finally filled its CME gap formed between $4,092 and $4,261.

Typically, price gaps are formed in the crypto market when an asset opens much higher or lower than its previous closing price. Gaps created in the chart often act as a magnet for future price movements.

The implications of CME gaps for Ethereum lie in their predictive power. Market participants closely monitor these gaps for potential trading opportunities.

In previous cycles, closing a CME gap often precedes a bullish rally. It implies the market has addressed an imbalance, potentially opening the way for a price rebound.

Therefore, closing the CME gap between $4,092 and $4,261 could result in ETH regaining its lost momentum.

At press time, the Ethereum price was traded at $4,206, demonstrating a 2% decrease over the previous 24 hours. On the weekly chart, ETH also nosedived by 10.2%.

Nevertheless, market activity remained high as seen by the soaring trading volume. Notably, the daily trading volume surged 11.8% to $49.7 billion.

Analyst Issues Ethereum Buy Call

Meanwhile, crypto analyst Michael van de Poppe urged investors to always accumulate ETH during market dips. The analyst noted that ETH is currently traded in an area where buying the dip is ideal.

Van de Poppe is optimistic that the price of ETH will rise by about 10% from the current level soon. His projection is likely based on analysis of market trends, support levels, or other indicators.

A 10% bounce from the current levels would mean a price increase to $4,626. The analyst also expects reduced volatility for ETH and the commencement of an accumulation phase.

In another bullish projection, Fundstrat’s co-founder, Tom Lee, said the Fed Chair Powell’s speech on Friday will be key for ETH.

Other market participants have supported Lee’s opinion that a slightly dovish signal could send ETH to new highs. According to them, the crypto market is hungry for a major catalyst.

They also cited recent BitMine ETH accumulation as an additional trigger to impact the coin’s price positively. Previously, analysts claimed ETH has the potential to hit between $10,000 and $12,000, citing strong institutional interest.

The future of Ethereum

Meanwhile, entrepreneur and OKX partner Ted Pillows highlighted that the ETH Long/Short ratio is slightly leaning towards shorts. This could reflect cautious or bearish sentiment among traders and investors.

Ted, therefore, questioned whether the slight tilt towards shorts signals smart hedging or an expectation of further price declines.

To Ted, the ETH Long/Short ratio is perfect for an ETH squeeze. He added that macro catalysts could easily flip the script bullish again.

Another market Posty on X shared an ETH chart, spotlighting a range between $3,850 and $4,050 as ‘the’ buy opportunity before price discovery.

Regarding the future of Ethereum, co-founder Vitalik Buterin recently presented plans for the next ten years.

According to Vitalik, ecosystem developments would focus on ZK-snarking, default privacy, ultralight nodes, and self-custody.

“The era of ‘trust me’ for security starts looking as archaic as the era of not cleaning our water… we’ve already gotten there with HTTPS… we need to get there with everything else,” Vitalik explained.
