Blockchain payment firm Ripple Labs has announced a strategic partnership with SBI Holdings.
The RLUSD stablecoin will become available to the Japanese market through this partnership.
The partnership with SBI comes shortly after Ripple joined Crypto ISAC and TRM Lab as a founding member.
The Plan for Ripple (RLUSD) and Japan
Ripple revealed in a press release that it has signed a new memorandum of understanding (MOU) with SBI and its subsidiary, SBI VC Trade. The firm outlined its intention to distribute RLUSD in Japan.
According to the Ripple announcement, RLUSD will become available in Japan during the first quarter of 2026. The company foresees the stablecoin market growing from its current valuation of $300 billion into the trillions.
Notably, stablecoins have become a key part of global financial infrastructure. Ripple believes the next wave of stablecoin adoption will be driven by utility and institutional demand.
Commenting on the recent partnership, SBI VC Trade CEO Tomohiko Kondo said his team will work with Ripple to build a transparent financial infrastructure.

He emphasized that SBI Group has played a key role in crypto and blockchain development in Japan.
The CEO added that SBI has started handling stablecoins. Thus, he views the integration with Ripple as a catalyst for expanding stablecoin options in Japan.
Jack McDonald, Ripple’s Senior Vice President of Stablecoins, also commented on the new partnership. McDonald emphasized that the partnership with SBI transcends technology to build a trusted and compliant financial future.
He added that the partnership will drive stablecoin utility in Japan and set a new benchmark for the entire market.
Ripple Becomes Founding Member of Crypto ISAC
In a parallel development, Ripple has joined forces with Crypto ISAC and TRM Labs to strengthen security across the blockchain ecosystem.
Notably, the Crypto Information Sharing and Analysis Center (Crypto ISAC) announced Ripple as a Founding Member.
Becoming a founding member of Crypto ISAC means Ripple has agreed to strengthen its dedication to supporting a secure ecosystem for Web3 and blockchain technology.
Crypto ISAC is an industry-driven initiative to combat cybersecurity threats specific to the crypto and blockchain sector.

Ripple also revealed that it has become a founding member of TRM Labs’ Beacon Network. This also marks a major step for Ripple in combating crypto-related financial crime.
Beacon Network, a real-time intelligence-sharing system, is designed to help law enforcement, crypto exchanges, DeFi services, and stablecoin issuers stop illicit fund withdrawals.
In summary, Ripple’s involvement with Crypto ISAC and Beacon Network highlights its commitment to enhancing trust and security, which are critical for mainstream crypto adoption.
RLUSD’s Role in the Stablecoin Market
The RLUSD stablecoin is a trusted, enterprise-grade digital asset, built with compliance and transparency in mind.
Launched in December 2024, RLUSD is fully backed by U.S. dollar deposits, short-term U.S. government bonds, and other cash equivalents.
Also, RLUSD operates under a New York Department of Financial Services (NYDFS) limited-purpose trust company charter.
This commitment to regulatory clarity sets RLUSD apart from other stablecoins. It also provides the security that institutions require and expect.
Unlike leading stablecoins such as USDT and USDC, RLUSD is tailored for enterprise-grade applications, including cross-border payments and tokenized asset trading.
For instance, Bullish, a crypto-focused firm, recently settled portions of its IPO proceeds with the RLUSD stablecoin.
Additionally, earlier CryptoQuant data showed a shift from small to large transactions in RLUSD. This shift indicated that RLUSD is increasingly attracting financial players.
Currently, RLUSD has a market capitalization of $666.6 million, with trading volume pegged at $113.9 million.
