Bitcoin (BTC) hovered near all-time highs this week after an explosive run that pushed prices to record weekly closes. Yet, several traders warned that a short-term correction could follow as key technical indicators flashed sell signals.
Bitcoin was consolidating near $124,000 on October 6, after briefly testing resistance at $125,000. While institutional inflows have fueled the latest move, some analysts now see early signs of overheating.
TD Sequential Flashes Sell Signal
Crypto analyst Ali (@ali_charts) alerted followers that the TD Sequential indicator flashed a sell signal on Bitcoin’s daily chart, suggesting that profit-taking could be emerging among traders.

“A spike in profit-taking could be starting as the TD Sequential flashes a sell signal on Bitcoin,” he posted on X. The TD Sequential, developed by Tom DeMark, identifies potential trend exhaustion points following extended price runs.
This warning comes after Bitcoin’s uninterrupted climb in recent weeks, with little retracement along the way. Ali’s signal echoed broader market sentiment that BTC might be due for a short-term pause after a near “up-only” rally.
Institutions Fueled Bitcoin Price Record Close
According to Cas Abbé (@cas_abbe), Bitcoin’s latest record weekly close was “driven by institutional buying and liquidity easing.” He said, “I think this isn’t the end, and Bitcoin is going above $160K by Q4 end.”

Abbé’s view reflects growing confidence among institutional traders, who have reentered the market amid loosening global liquidity conditions. Analysts noted that Bitcoin’s advance over the past two weeks coincided with large inflows into spot exchange-traded funds and derivatives markets.
The timing also aligned with a broader rally in tech-heavy equities, particularly in the U.S. stock market, suggesting renewed risk appetite among professional investors. Abbé’s bullish projection, however, depends on whether institutional demand continues to absorb retail profit-taking.
Key Resistance Levels and Liquidity Clusters
Trader Ted (@TedPillows) noted that Bitcoin had reached a “crucial resistance level.” In his X post, he said, “Yesterday, Bitcoin pushed above this level, but the move was entirely perps driven. If institutions bid again like last week, a reclaim is possible. If that doesn’t happen, a sharp correction toward $118,000–$120,000 could happen.”

Ted’s comments suggest that while perpetual futures traders fueled the latest push, sustained growth still requires support from the spot market. Without renewed institutional buying, momentum could fade quickly, triggering a pullback to previously high-volume zones around $118,000.
Several analysts see this range as an essential area for maintaining bullish structure. Losing it, they warn, could extend losses further as leveraged long positions unwind.
Structure Remains Intact but Momentum Slows
Daan Crypto Trades (@DaanCrypto) highlighted that Bitcoin made “a new all-time high following the move out of the channel/flag.” He added that maintaining higher highs and higher lows is essential for the uptrend to remain intact.

“I would not want to see price lose that $117K–$118K again,” he cautioned, calling it a “very high-volume area.” According to him, if BTC starts ranging again between $112,000 and $124,000, it could signal a fading trend and dampen the broader bullish outlook.
Daan maintained that the overall structure “looks good,” though he warned the market could soon make a higher low somewhere before resuming upward movement.
Traders Split Between Continuation and Correction
The latest market tone underscores a split among traders. Bulls like Abbé view structural strength and institutional momentum as indicators of a sustained rally toward $ 160,000. Bears, however, point to overextended technicals and the TD Sequential signal as warnings of short-term cooling.
Despite the contrasting opinions, all agree that maintaining support near $118K remains critical. Failure to hold this level could trigger cascading liquidations, especially given the large volume of leveraged positions in the derivatives market.
Meanwhile, spot volume growth and reduced exchange reserves continue to show investor confidence in Bitcoin’s long-term trajectory. Even so, traders appear cautious about chasing new highs without a confirmed retest.
Bitcoin Price Eyes Q4 Volatility
The fourth quarter historically delivers heightened volatility for Bitcoin, with several previous cycle tops and bottoms forming between October and December. With macro liquidity improving and central banks hinting at rate cuts, market conditions remain fluid.
Institutional demand, particularly through exchange-traded funds, has so far provided a robust foundation for Bitcoin’s uptrend. Yet, as Ali and Daan highlighted, the coming weeks may determine whether this rally evolves into a sustainable higher cycle or retraces to refresh market structure.
For now, Bitcoin’s record weekly close represents strength, but traders agree that the path forward depends on maintaining key support zones. As Ted summed up, “If institutions bid again, a reclaim is possible. If not, correction awaits.”
