Ethereum price is trading near a crucial resistance level that could shape its next major trend. With the whales continuing to climb, analysts are split, with some flashing warning lights on the chart. The range from $4,000-$4,800 continue to be the most important area to watch for a confirmed breakout or reversal.
Whales and Institutions Boost Ethereum Accumulation
Large investors are increasing their Ethereum holdings despite rising volatility. According to on-chain tracker Lookonchain, a whale wallet, 0x882E, sent 14,275 ETH ($62.48M) to Binance after purchasing 64,400 ETH at $1,882 two years ago. The investor sold 23,365 ETH, ($97.64M) since March and still has a large position with $156M in realized profit.
In the meantime, Bitmine keeps on buying aggressively. The company recently received 23,823 ETH ($103.68M) from BitGo, just hours after buying 20,020 ETH ($89.7M) through FalconX. These repeated transactions demonstrate continued institutional faith.
Historically, whale accumulation has been followed by strong rallies, which implies that Ethereum is set to make a significant move above its recent highs in the coming months.
The current accumulation also supports the bullish outlook. On-chain data has shown that addresses holding more than 10,000 ETH have increased, indicating that smart money is positioning for a potential breakout.
Key Resistance Zone Threatens Short-Term Stability
Analyst Ali Charts cautioned that Ethereum price has entered a historical “danger zone” between $4,000 and $4,800. His chart showed that each previous touch of this range since 2021 has resulted in corrections of 30%-60%. He stated that for ETH to properly close above $4,800, there must be a clean breakout.

Ali stated that traders should remain cautious until Ethereum clears the resistance zone. Otherwise, the price could dip to $3,700, he said. However, breaking above $4,800 would mark Ethereum’s first move beyond a multi-year ceiling, signaling bullish continuation.
Similarly, Ash Crypto remains confident but acknowledges the temporary corrections that result from leverage liquidations. He said that $4,240 is important support and $5,000 is firm resistance. Ash is looking for a breakout above $5,000 for a run towards $6,000, supported by strong institutional inflows.

Ash also mentioned BlackRock’s ETHA fund, which has over $1.4 billion in ETH. According to him, such activity reflected sustained institutional trust and reinforced Ethereum’s long-term strength despite short-term volatility.
Bullish Chart Patterns Signal Upcoming Breakout
Furthermore, analyst Trader Tardigrade identified a bullish falling wedge breakout on Ethereum’s weekly chart. He said this classical reversal pattern indicates the end of the correction phase. The breakout above $4,200 has turned that level into new support, which is a potential power level for a move towards $6,600.

Tardigrade chart depicted strong momentum after the wedge breakout. He believed Ethereum price is currently in a new bullish structure supported by whale accumulation and good buying near key support levels.
Another analyst, CRYPTOWZRD, gave a short-term outlook. He pointed out that both Ethereum and ETHBTC closed out bearish but still remain in an upward setup. The ETH/USD bullish double bottom pattern shows that the ETHBTC pair is on the verge of a recovery. He identified critical support as $4,000 and pivot level as $4,260.
If the ETH price continues to hold above $4,260, CRYPTOWZRD predicts upside potential of $4,765-$5,780, and potentially $6,200. He recommended traders look out for strong candle confirmations before entering long positions.

Long-Term Outlook Targets $8,500 Cycle Top
Meanwhile long term analyst Leshka.eth projected Ethereum price to hit $8,500 during this market cycle. He based his forecast on historical patterns which indicated that Ethereum peaks at touching a rising multi-year trendline. In 2021, ETH touched down on that line at $4,800 with the next cycle
projection of $8,500.

Leshka explained that the top altcoin has built a stable base near $4,000 over several years. This long consolidation is the reflection of accumulation phases prior to parabolic rallies. He thought that the current structure was setting ETH up for a new macro bull move into 2025.
