XRP price remained near the $1 level as Ripple joined a wider U.S. regulatory push involving the White House, Securities and Exchange Commission and Commodity Futures Trading Commission.
President Donald Trump was scheduled to host crypto executives on Aug. 19. SEC Chairman Paul Atkins and CFTC Chairman Michael Selig were also expected to attend, according to Reuters.
The meeting comes one day before the CFTC’s Innovation Advisory Committee meets in Washington. Ripple CEO Brad Garlinghouse serves on that committee alongside executives from Coinbase, Nasdaq, CME Group and Polymarket.
Ripple Joins White House Crypto Talks
Ripple CEO Brad Garlinghouse is among executives attending the White House gathering with leaders from Coinbase, Gemini, Polymarket, and other firms. Nasdaq, CME Group, the New York Stock Exchange and DTCC may also take part. The meeting puts regulators, crypto companies and traditional market operators in the same room as Washington works through new digital asset rules.
Previously, Garlinghouse pushed for Congress to pass the CLARITY Act. At the Wyoming Blockchain Symposium, he said Ripple supports rules that cover the wider crypto industry. He also repeated that XRP itself does not qualify as a security under the federal court ruling in Ripple’s case.
The timing also connects the meeting with the CLARITY Act debate in Congress. Senate Majority Leader John Thune filed a cloture motion for September 15 after lawmakers left for the August recess. The bill needs 60 votes to advance. The CLARITY Act seeks to define when digital assets fall under securities or commodities rules and divide oversight between federal regulators.
CFTC Meeting Puts XRP Policy in Focus
The CFTC will hold the inaugural Innovation Advisory Committee meeting in Washington on August 20. Chairman Michael Selig sponsors the committee. The agency originally named Garlinghouse among 35 members in February. Nasdaq, CME Group, Cboe and DTCC executives also joined that original group, linking crypto firms with major market infrastructure companies.
The CFTC says the committee advises it on technology, law, policy, and finance. The August 20 agenda includes crypto asset regulation, artificial intelligence, and prediction markets. A separate 2026 SEC and CFTC interpretation also lists XRP as an example of a digital commodity. The advisory committee can recommend policy approaches, while the Commission retains responsibility for its rules and enforcement.
XRP Price Prediction: Derivatives Activity Raises Volatility Risk
Meanwhile, XRP price currently trades near $1 after rallying about 1% over 24 hours. That places the market close to the $1.05 resistance area tracked by short-term traders. The $0.99 level still acts as nearby support, while $0.97 marks the next lower zone if sellers regain control.
CryptoQuant data shows Binance XRP open interest climbed from about $181 million on August 3 to $232.7 million on August 17. That rise pushed open interest to a two-month high. Rising open interest shows that traders are adding leveraged positions but does not identify whether the next move will favor buyers or sellers.

Large XRP Ledger transfers also increased before the Washington meetings. Transactions worth more than $1 million jumped 280% within 24 hours, reaching more than 38 transfers. For the XRP price prediction, the immediate test stays near $1.05, while $0.99 remains the main downside level.
