- Nearly 74% of SHIB holders have held their assets for over a year.
On the 31st of January, the burn rate of Shiba Inu increased to a staggering 7200%, and 1.1 billion tokens were removed from circulation. This burn rate means that there is likely to be an upsurge in the price of Shiba Inu in the next couple of days.
Massive Surge in Shiba Inu Burn Rate
On January 31, Shiba Inu burn rate through the use of the Shibburn website increased by a whopping 7200%, which signaled an increase in the volume of tokens being pulled from circulation.
One of the principal factors for this rise was a wallet that sent over 1 billion SHIB tokens to a wallet with no balance. This saw 1.1 billion tokens being burnt in twenty- four hours thus reducing the circulation of tokens in the market.

Consequently, this increase in the burn rate can be attributed to the supply chain principle in which a reduction in supply may cause an upsurge in prices if the demand remains constant or goes up.
Shiba Inu currently has a circulating supply of about 584.25 trillion tokens, and these changes have been met with positive sentiment in the market. That might be an early signal of a favorable price movement in the future.
Shiba Inu Price Movements and Resistance Levels
As of January 31, Shiba Inu price was rather volatile, ranging from $0.0000185 to $0.00001896. The fluctuation of this asset’s market price is quite visible, which can be explained by this narrow range of price changes.
Shiba Inu remains quite volatile, but it has the flexibility to respond to key support and resistance levels, with key resistance at around $0.000019.
Despite this, it is still unclear whether the latest burn rate rise will be enough to push the token through this level of resistance.
However, the optimism created by the burn surge in addition to other market factors may at some point contribute to the breakout above this level.
Shiba Inu Holders and Market Sentiment
More so, on-chain data analysis shows that 74% of Shiba Inu holders have been holding the token for more than a year. This means that even when the prices are unstable, many investors are not selling their SHIB tokens as might have been expected.
Such investors often take strategic long-term positions that can help support demand for the asset regardless of short-term fluctuations.

Also, around 47% of the SHIB token holders are still in profit at the current price range. This might be interpreted to mean that a large number of investors do not have a high chance of having to dispose of their tokens soon.
However, the flip side to this may be that profit-taking may surge thereby causing more fluctuations in the future as the holders start to sell their stakes.
Besides, the retention rate demonstrates a high level of support for SHIB, which could help in a possible upside if the market conditions improve.
