- The XRP Ledger has experienced a brief outage.
- There were no reported significant disruptions or data losses during the decline.
- To demonstrate strength during RLUSD testing, Ripple is constructing the ledger.
The XRP Ledger (XRPL) recently faced partial downtime, raising concerns within the blockchain community. WietseWind is a prominent XRPL developer. He drew attention to issues impacting Ripple’s cluster and Full History servers.
This has caused temporary validation interruptions. Despite this, the network recovered autonomously, which showcased its resilience.
WietseWind In a post shared on X, stated, “XRPL is currently partially (?) down.”

Event Overview: What Happened to the XRP Ledger?
WietseWind explained that Full History servers and Ripple’s cluster could not access the latest ledger. This disrupted the network’s ability to validate and process transactions.

We see all Full History servers operated by us and others down, and Ripple's cluster is also reporting having no current ledger.

Full History servers are specialized nodes storing the XRP Ledger‘s complete transaction history. These servers experienced significant disruptions, affecting data access and network reliability.
Ripple’s cluster was also impacted, preventing validation due to the lack of an updated ledger state. That is a critical component for processing transactions.
Hours later, WietseWind informed the community that the situation had improved. He added that most nodes have returned to normal operations and resumed ledger validation.
All node operators I just talked to report their nodes halting/crashing or not making forward progress.

It seems the ledger has stabilised, and nodes are coming back and picking up on a new consensus ledger.
It seems ledger 92346896-92347095 have been 'lost'.
We've seen nodes… https://t.co/vKMaRltc9K
“Most nodes are back on a consensus ledger and closing ledgers again,” WietseWind confirmed. This signaled that transaction validation and ledger updates had resumed on the XRP Ledger.
Importantly, no historical transaction data was lost, as Full History nodes are actively synchronizing. The XRPL Labs developer noted that the recovery happened organically, without requiring major fixes. That underscored the network’s robustness.
Ripple’s VP of Engineering, Brad Chase, also acknowledged the issue. He assured the community that the RippleX engineering team is investigating the cause.
The RippleX Eng team is investigating the root cause and working on a fix – appreciate @XRPLLabs and the rest of the community’s quick responses to make sure the XRP Ledger is secure and stable. We’ll share more updates as soon as we have additional information. https://t.co/G9Mkbv1Xvy

Moving ahead, He expressed gratitude for the community’s swift response. He also promised timely updates as more information becomes available.
Testing Phase of RLUSD and the Cause of the Outage
The downtime on the XRP Ledger occurred during a pivotal period. In that period, Ripple Labs intensified testing for its RLUSD stablecoin. After pausing trials in late October, the company resumed testing following a two-week break.
Some speculate that this testing may have contributed to the network issues. However, WietseWind’s updates did not mention any connection.
Ripple Labs has accelerated RLUSD testing in preparation for its launch. With this, the RLUSD Treasury recently minted an impressive 10.5 million RLUSD.
This process, alongside the burning and transferring phases, is undergoing rigorous evaluation. It will ensure that stablecoin can meet the demands of real-world usage.
Increased Activity on XRP Ledger With Archax Onboard
Ripple Labs is making strides in the growing tokenized assets market. The company has teamed up with Archax to launch a $3.8 Billion money market on the XRP Ledger.
This marked a significant step toward dominating a sector Ripple believes could be worth $16 Trillion by 2030. Ripple’s push into tokenization includes digitizing traditional assets like bonds, stocks, and real estate. By doing so, they are aiming to integrate blockchain into capital markets.
Today, in partnership with @ArchaxEx and @abrdn_plc, we’re excited to announce the first tokenized money market fund on the XRP Ledger.

With $16T in tokenized assets projected by 2030, this milestone unlocks cost savings and settlement efficiencies by deploying capital markets…
The goal is to streamline real-time settlement, cut costs, and enhance liquidity using the XRP Ledger.
XRPL Labs Demonstrates Innovation with $XAH Treasury Lock and Hook Integration
XRPL Labs has locked 125 million $XAH tokens. That showcased its commitment to long-term transparency and integrity.

This features a custom-built Treasury Hook for automated, secure token management and a Treasury Dashboard for real-time accountability.
In an exciting update, XRPL Labs revealed that bidds will soon integrate with the Xahau Network using Hooks. This would enable cutting-edge smart contracts.
This opens up new opportunities for creators and collectors. It includes “royalty Hooks” for managing creator royalties or “mint-on-demand” functionalities. There, the tokens are minted upon payment instead of pre-minting.
Going to be interesting to see creator focussed royalty Hooks being developed.
— WietseWind ( @ Xaman, XRPL & Xahau) (@WietseWind) November 25, 2024
And e.g. Hooks for "minting on demand", where a large pre-mint is not required: the Hook can issue an URIToken e.g. on payment.
I can see some interesting things happening. https://t.co/rqx0G02icI
Developer WietseWind expressed enthusiasm. He feels this innovation sets the stage for transformative developments in the XRPL ecosystem.
