Solana Price Prediction: Can SOL Rocket Back to $140?

Key Insights:

  • Solana trades near $127, forming an ascending channel pattern
  • CME launches SOL futures as institutional demand continues rising
  • Derivatives trading volume for SOL has increased by 22% on exchanges

Solana currently trades at $127 as it maintains its position inside an ascending channel as traders watch for potential resistance at $140. There is increasing institutional interest through the launch of CME SOL futures and the filing of ETFs by major organizations. Meanwhile, the market activity has received a boost from the 22% increase in derivatives trading volume.

Solana Price Technical Setup: Ready for a Bounce?

The crypto analyst Ali Charts notes that Solana’s price action shows a distinct ascending channel pattern as it bounces between clear trend lines. Right now, its position at $129 places it near the base of its ascending channel, while indicating a potential jump toward the upper resistance at $140.

This move would demonstrate market strength following a price drop below $127. The support level in the channel shows resilience, with each previous bounce from this region creating short-term price growth.

Solana’s ability to regain its position at the mid-point of the channel could create enough momentum to surpass $140 while aiming for fresh local highs.

Meanwhile, Carl Moon presents a wider market perspective through his analysis of the weekly chart. The important support zone where previous price rallies started has been retested.

Also, the price structure shows a cup-and-handle pattern, which is a well-recognized bullish formation. This setup indicates the token may be preparing for a substantial price increase that could reach up to $300 during the long-term period.

Institutional Interest Is Booming

Meanwhile, FalconX executed the first-ever Solana futures block trade ahead of CME Group officially launching its SOL futures contracts. The trade completed by StoneX demonstrates that financial institutions are seeking regulated access to Solana investments.

The launch of SOL futures by CME Group in late February came due to rising institutional demand. The contracts provide large investors with the ability to manage risk through their standard futures offering of 500 SOL and micro contract offering of 25 SOL. The CME CF Solana-Dollar Reference Rate determines cash settlement of these contracts through daily updates at 4:00 p.m. London time.

At the same time, major asset management firms, including Grayscale and Franklin Templeton, together with Bitwise, have filed applications for Solana spot ETFs.

The approval of these funds would enable investors to purchase and maintain SOL through regulated mechanisms, which could attract billions of fresh capital into the network.

Historical trends show the introduction of regulated futures markets typically leads to the creation of ETFs, which happened first with Bitcoin and Ethereum.

Will Solana Price Reclaim Its Previous Highs?

Despite these bullish developments, Solana price remains substantially lower than its January peak value at $293. Since then, it has declined by 6.4% to its current value of $127 while markets experience overall volatility.

However, according to data from Coinglass, derivatives trading activity reveals a different picture since SOL futures volume on centralized exchanges has increased by 22%, which indicates traders are actively taking positions for future market movements.

The trading volume of crypto derivatives at CME has seen tremendous growth. In 2025, the crypto futures market completed 202,000 contracts per day, while open interest expanded by 55% throughout the year.

The number of unique accounts participating in crypto derivatives trading has reached 11,300, which demonstrates traditional financial institutions’ growing interest in integrating crypto assets into investment portfolios.

If history is any guide, the increasing derivatives trading typically leads to significant price fluctuations.
