ADA Targets $5 If $2 Breaks, But Liquidity Still Lags

ADA Targets $5 If $2 Breaks, But Liquidity Still Lags

Highlights:

  • ADA shows bullish structures with targets between $1.27 and $5, depending on breakout strength.
  • Liquidity remains thin, with whale activity driving moves instead of broad market demand.
  • Cardano leads in development activity with 21,258 commits across 550 core repositories.

As of writing, Cardano (ADA) was trading at $0.7511, and its charts are showing leading diagonals and wave patterns. These patterns suggest that potential targets are found between $1.27 and $5, based on the price and confirmation of a breakout.

If ADA rises above $2, analysts believe the price could go even higher. Yet, liquidity is still limited, and the wider market shows mixed signals, which could slow or weaken any upward movement.

ADA Technical Setups Suggest Upward Move

ADA has recently built two possible bullish structures on its weekly and monthly charts, known as contracting and expanding leading diagonals.

The contracting diagonal aims for a price range of $1.33 to $2.42, while the expanding diagonal points to a range of $1.27 to $2.04. They both show the same volume patterns as the market.

Even though volume is rising, which is not usual for a contracting diagonal, it fits well with the expanding structure. That happens because patterns usually grow when the market becomes busier and more unpredictable.

From the charts, the expanding diagonal count is in line with Cardano’s price movements since late 2023.

In addition, a “double 1-2 setup” is also in view. The market could see a bullish wave structure aiming for a minimum target of $5. Both wave 1 moves have grown in volume, and the second wave 2 retraced to the 0.618 Fibonacci level.

This is less than the 0.786 level of the first, meaning the trend is gaining momentum and investors are feeling more confident.

Breakout Needs $2 Confirmation Amid Weak Liquidity

Even though the outlook is positive, ADA must overcome the $2 resistance to prove a bigger rally. It would follow the rules of a third-wave breakout in Elliott Wave theory. Even so, the market is still limited by low liquidity, mainly among altcoins.

Volume profiles prove that the main moves in prices are due to the actions of a few big players, not the whole market.

There is still not much liquidity, and Bitcoin being close to a cycle top may hold back the broader market. BTC markets’ data on funding rates indicates that there is a slight tendency towards being cautious.

If ADA does not return to $0.85 soon, traders might start looking for bearish patterns. At this point, the larger altcoin market is gaining traction, and a significant Bitcoin move could impact ADA’s next price rise.

Development Activity Puts Cardano Ahead

While price action remains under watch, Cardano has outperformed other blockchain projects in terms of development over the last year.

CryptoMetho’s GitHub data shows that ADA has more commits (21,258) in its 550 core repositories than Ethereum (20,950), as well as other major blockchains.

In just the last week, 54 core developers made 428 changes to the protocol. There are 38 active projects in the total ecosystem, which are all in 3,888 repositories.

The fact that development has been steady all year indicates that builders are still active, despite the ups and downs in prices.

The total number of commits decreased by 4% from last month, yet the growth for the year is stable. There were 0.39% fewer developers in April, but the network still had 245 contributors. According to these numbers, technology is advancing no matter what the market situation is.

Long-Term Targets Remain in Play but Conditions Apply

The configuration allows for the identification of two long-term target zones. ADA may trade between $1.27 and $2.04 as the diagonal expands.

When the double 1-2 wave pattern is confirmed and $2 is broken, the next target is $5, and there could be even higher targets later on.

Still, these situations require both price action and market backing to succeed. The current rally is happening with more volume, yet higher liquidity and involvement from different sectors are crucial before it can be confirmed.

If everything is in place, the token could move in line with historical wave patterns and rise further.
