Key Insights:
- XRP price hovers near $2.02, with bulls targeting $3 amid unresolved SEC lawsuit developments.
- Attorney Bill Morgan says 2026 lawsuit delay is unlikely if Judge Torres approves the joint motion.
- XRP’s MACD bullish crossover and RSI recovery hint at a short-term rally if price breaks $2.10 resistance.
XRP bulls are aiming for the $3 mark, but ongoing legal hurdles with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) continue to cloud the outlook. Despite a minor recovery in XRP price from recent lows, both technical resistance and court proceedings could delay the next bullish breakout. Market observers now question whether a legal delay could stretch into 2026 or whether a resolution is closer than many think.
Bill Morgan Comments on Ripple Lawsuit Delay Possibility Until 2026
Rumors have recently surfaced suggesting that the Ripple vs SEC lawsuit could extend until late 2026. However, attorney Bill Morgan has addressed these concerns, stating that such a delay remains unlikely. In a recent post on X, Morgan explained that a prolonged case would only occur if Judge Analisa Torres rejects the current joint motion filed by both Ripple and the SEC.
According to Morgan, “That outcome is improbable. A more likely path is a common sense resolution based on the existing summary judgment.” He believes that Judge Torres is inclined to support the current penalties and permanent injunction, which would prevent the case from entering a prolonged appeals process. He added that if the court accepts the joint motion, the lawsuit could be resolved in a matter of weeks.

Judge Torres recently rejected one joint filing, leading both parties to submit a revised version. Analysts believe this indicates a willingness by both Ripple and the SEC to finalize the matter without further escalation. The XRP community remains watchful, as another ruling from Judge Torres could influence XRP price direction in the short term.
SEC and Ripple File Joint Motion Seeking Court Approval
The ongoing case began in December 2020, when the SEC filed charges against Ripple Labs, alleging XRP was sold as an unregistered security. Since then, multiple legal developments have unfolded, including a partial win for Ripple in a summary judgment in 2023. Still, final closure has not been reached, leaving traders uncertain.
Some legal experts, including James Farrell, previously predicted a swift resolution if Judge Torres approves the joint motion. However, he also mentioned that if the court denies it again, delays could stretch into 2027. “If settlement talks break down and appeals begin, the timeline would likely expand significantly,” he said in a separate X post.
While the court’s next step remains unknown, there is growing expectation within the XRP community that Judge Torres may be preparing to bring the case to a close. Some community members believe an unofficial settlement has already been reached, although no confirmation has been provided.
XRP Price Struggles Below $2.10 as Bulls Eye $3 Target
According to TradingView, the XRP price is currently trading at $2.0193 on the 4-hour chart, showing signs of a weak recovery after a recent sell-off. The chart pattern gives a clear downward trend of lower highs and lower lows since mid May. The retracement below the $1.90-1.92 support area served to lay the downside pressure, and the selling persists around the $2.05-2.10 level.
The technical indications imply little bull markets. MACD has had a low-level bullish crossover, and histogram has been made a bit positive, which carries an indication of a short-term bullish surge. RSI has also increased out of the oversold territory (~30) to 38.51 but is still below neutral 50, which means maintaining the bearish pressure.

Candlestick patterns indicate buying interest at lower prices by small candlesticks with long downside wicks at and around the price of $2.00, although the small candles which are the follow-up are not strong. The volume of trading is low and that shows a lack of confidence among the traders. XRP needs to finish above $2.10 to gain further momentum to climb to the $2.20 level and restore breakout hopes to the $3 juncture.
