In the latest Solana news, the protocol has recorded a 50% decline in daily transaction volume. However, the plunge in the number of Solana network transactions occurred alongside a strong price rally for SOL.
This negative divergence has raised concerns among market participants. Still, some analysts remain bullish on the future Solana price movements, citing positive technical structures and potential ETF approvals.
Solana News: The Unusual Transaction Slump
Onchain data analytics platform CryptoQuant pointed to the sharp decline in Solana’s daily transaction volume
Notably, the Solana transaction volume dropped from a peak of about 125 million transactions on July 24 to approximately 64 million by early October.
This represents a 50% decline in transaction volume, and it occurred during a period when the SOL price experienced an upsurge.
This negative divergence, where price rises while fundamental network activity drops, is a key signal for investors and analysts. This is because it may indicate speculative rather than organic growth.
Typically, in a healthy market, price growth is supported by increased network usage, reflecting genuine demand.

Hence, when price surges without corresponding activity, it suggests the rally is possibly driven by market sentiment or speculation. This increases the risk of a price correction.
However, it is important to note that Solana has two primary transaction types: user activity and voting transactions.
Identifying whether the 50% decrease is directly related to user activity will help to assess the severity of the negative divergence.
Notably, voting transactions dominate Solana’s total transaction count, often comprising 80-90%, used for network consensus.
The divergence is less alarming if the 50% transaction drop is mostly vote-related. It would indicate Solana is becoming more efficient, processing the same user activity with fewer total transactions.
However, if the drop is primarily in non-vote transactions, it signals a decline in user engagement. For instance, fewer DeFi trades, NFT mints, or fund transfers.
Can SOL Price Breakout at $425?
As of this writing, SOL is priced at $222.29, according to CoinMarketCap data. SOL has rallied only 0.1% over the past 24 hours and decreased by 1.3% on the weekly charts.
Per the Solana news, the daily trading volume also plunged 13.4% to $7.74 billion, indicating a reduced market activity.
Despite the tempered outlook, analysts have expressed confidence in SOL’s potential.
In an X post, Bitcoin investor and analyst Lark Davies pointed out a bullish technical setup for Solana on its monthly chart.
According to Davies, SOL is forming a cup and handle pattern with a 1.618 Fibonacci extension target of $425. The 1.618 level is a common extension for strong bull moves, as it represents natural market expansion.
Davies added that the Moving Average Convergence Divergence (MACD) indicator is also forming a golden cross.
This move signals a bullish reversal, especially potent on monthly timeframes for long-term trends.
The analysts tied these technicals to potential approvals of Solana exchange-traded funds (ETFs).
He is optimistic that SOL will hit new highs following a SOL ETF launch, cup/handle breakout, and MACD golden cross.
Solana News: Anatoly Yakovenko on Developer Loyalty
In another Solana news, founder Anatoly Yakovenko talked about developer loyalty in a recent interview.
He emphasized that teams that decided to stick with Solana effectively brought the ecosystem back. These include Mad Labs, Backpack, Jupiter, and JITO.
Anatoly said most of the teams responded that Solana was the least worst blockchain when he asked them why they did not leave. They expressed concerns about other chains restraining developer activity.
To them, it felt like either they go build their own chain, or stay in Solana.
Anatoly emphasized that Solana has done a good job giving developers the most amount of resources and capacity to build products.
