Top DeFi Tokens to Buy as Market Cap Shows Full-Cycle Recovery

The Market Periodical highlights the best DeFi tokens to buy. It places established coins and new ones at the forefront.

The Total Value Locked (TVL) of these tokens was in an upward spiral. However, the price of the underlying assets was still in the red. Interestingly, the top five DeFi tokens by TVL showed minimal fluctuations to the downside on the day.

Moreover, Chainlink co-founder Sergey Nazarov expressed his belief that further efforts were necessary to propel DeFi tokens to unprecedented heights. This came as the total market capitalization of these cryptos hinted at a recovery.

Top DeFi Tokens and New Entrants By TVL

Tokens linked to the Ethereum (ETH) mainnet led the market. Crypto buyers found them in the best position. Aave Protocol (AAVE) topped this sector with a TVL near $30 billion. Its value dropped about 2% in 24 hours.

Lido DAO (LDO), EigenLayer (EIGEN), Ethena (ENA), and EtherFi rounded out the top five. Their TVL ranged from $29 billion to $9 billion.

Notable protocols not included in this list were Uniswap (UNI), Jupiter (JUP), Raydium (RAY), and JitoSOL (JTO). These were DEX aggregators, and the only one not from the Solana ecosystem was UNI.

All these tokens presented excellent opportunities for gains if markets recovered. Meanwhile, there were new entrants into this list, which were launched in autumn.

The same criteria, that is, the TVL, was used to determine these promising tokens. Most of them had eclipsed the $100 million in TVL. However, there was no assurance in their price performance, having launched a few months ago; thus, popularity was low.

These tokens were defined by stablecoins, real-world asset (RWA) access, and cross-chain decentralized exchanges. Sentora and Tydro were at the front with $669 million and $390 million in TVL, respectively.

Sentora was a management protocol, while Tydro was a non-custodial platform for borrowing and lending built on Kraken.

Still, the established tokens had the highest potential for returns. However, the gains would be amplified in the new ones due to their low capitalization. The catch was that the new tokens, not yet established in this sector, were vulnerable to capital loss.

Total Market Cap Hints At Reversal

The technical aspect of the total market cap of DeFi tokens indicated a possible market turnaround. This was upon finishing one of the most vivid full-cycle rebounds in recent years.

After subtractive multi-year re-pricing, the market roared back into the $350B bracket. This indicated that new capital was being pumped into these protocols. DefiLlama data indicated that money did not leave the sector but was restructured.

Whales and institutions quietly accumulated during the recession. Capital flowed back into DeFi with growing confidence. The upward structure demonstrated a wider recovery than a temporary bounce.

In case the trend continued, the market was yet to reach its acceleration stage. This meant that there was more to be expanded.

Chainlink Co-Founder Says DeFi Need Regulatory Progress

The market hinted at recovery, but Sergey Nazarov remained skeptical. He argued that growth required more than technology. Chainlink (LINK) is among the top oracles facilitating the bridge between traditional finance and DeFi.

Sergey Nazarov said, “Regulations and not tech will propel DeFi.” This statement was made against the backdrop of technological milestones achieved by DeFi. Therefore, the final requirement for this sector to thrive is streamlined regulations.
