Ethereum news shifted toward the network’s long-term architecture after Vitalik Buterin published a new 2030 roadmap. He described Ethereum moving toward a system built around cryptographic verification, privacy and decentralized off-chain computation.
ETH traded near $2,685 on Sept. 28, according to CoinMarketCap. The price remained close to an analyst-tracked supply zone above $2,700.
Ethereum News: Buterin Maps a Cryptographic 2030 Design
Vitalik Buterin calls the proposed architecture a “cryptographic world computer.” Under the model, computers could process transactions and produce short mathematical proofs showing that they followed Ethereum’s rules. Other participants could verify those proofs instead of repeating the full computation.
This structure could divide work across the network while keeping results independently verifiable.
Ethereum currently asks full nodes to repeat much of the same transaction processing. That approach supports verification, but adding more computers does not directly multiply network capacity.
Vitalik Buterin says newer proof systems could change that setup. Data availability sampling could also help nodes confirm that transaction information stays accessible without downloading every piece of data. Pasted text
Hegota Could Mark the End of Normal Forks
Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin expects Hegota, an Ethereum upgrade planned for 2027, to become the network’s last “normal” fork. He says later upgrades would use recursive STARKs, automated formal verification and more optimized consensus systems. Ethereum developers also plan cryptography that can resist attacks from future quantum computers. Pasted text
Before Hegota, Ethereum developers expect Glamsterdam to arrive in the fourth quarter of 2026. Fusaka already introduced PeerDAS in December 2025. PeerDAS lets validators sample blob data instead of downloading all of it. Buterin expects the same approach to cover full block contents later. Pasted text
His 2030 outline targets block slots of about four to eight seconds. The ETH news projects transaction finality within roughly eight to 32 seconds. Ethereum would still need to settle operations where transaction order matters.
Privacy and Verification Move Into the Core Design
The roadmap also changes how wallets interact with Ethereum. A wallet often queries an outside server when a user checks an address or balance. That server can learn which accounts the user follows.
Vitalik Buterin wants future privacy tools to hide those requests alongside payment details and account authorization rules.
The proposed system would also change how lightweight users verify activity. Nodes could sample data and check compact proofs instead of downloading and re-executing every block.
Vitalik Buterin also expects off-chain signature aggregation, with one aggregated signature recorded onchain for each block. That model would move more verification toward cryptographic evidence rather than repeated computation.
ETH Whales Build Positions Near Supply Wall
Meanwhile, network activity has also risen as Ethereum approaches a dense supply zone. Ali Martinez, citing Santiment data, reported that transactions worth more than $1 million rose from 1,202 to 7,113 within one week. That represents an increase of nearly 500%.
ETH news: Vitalik Buterin says Ethereum’s 2030 design will use cryptographic proofs, off-chain computing, privacy tools and quantum-safe security.

The ETH news also shows large holders adding more than 320,000 ETH during the same period, worth about $864 million.
Glassnode data shared by Martinez places a major supply wall between $2,722 and $2,822. More than 13.3 million ETH previously changed hands within that range. The distribution profile shows smaller concentrations near $2,970 and $3,366.
