- Market trends show that meme coins and altcoins share liquidity cycles.
- Dogecoin’s network activity surpasses some altcoins.
- CZ clarified he has not bought meme coins.
The crypto landscape includes a diverse range of digital assets, with altcoins and meme coins attracting significant market attention. Altcoins typically offer technological advancements and real-world applications, while meme coins rely on community engagement and viral appeal. However, market data suggests that the two categories share similar trading patterns and liquidity movements.
Market Capitalization and Trading Patterns
Some meme coins have market capitalizations comparable to well-established altcoins. Dogecoin’s market capitalization stands at $37.3 billion, placing it alongside Cardano’s $24.48 billion and Lido Staked Ether’s $25 billion.

Meanwhile, Shiba Inu and Pepe hold valuations of $9.28 billion and $3.99 billion, respectively, positioning them among mid-tier altcoins. This overlap indicates that certain memecoins are integrated into the broader crypto ecosystem rather than existing solely as speculative assets.
Price fluctuations further highlight the similarities between the two categories. For instance, during this press, Dogecoin’s value increased by 1.98%, while Pepe declined by 1.06%, figures comparable to Ethereum’s 1.01% rise and Cardano’s 0.40% dip.
Large transaction movements also mirror this trend. Dogecoin’s large transaction volume surged by 41.12% to reach $23.35 billion, exceeding Cardano’s $7.46 billion and Lido Staked Ether’s $448.82 million. Shiba Inu’s transactions decreased by 52.93%, a trend similar to Tether’s 60.15% drop. These shifts suggest that liquidity cycles in both altcoins and meme coins are influenced by speculation and external market factors.
User Activity and Network Engagement
Transaction activity further underscores the similarities between altcoins and meme coins. Dogecoin recorded 157.19k active addresses, a 34.91% increase, surpassing Cardano’s 34.23k and Lido Staked Ether’s 1.29k.
Ethereum led with 696.56k daily active addresses, while Shiba Inu and Pepe reported 4.88k and 4.76k, respectively. The data suggests that memecoins, particularly Dogecoin, maintain network activity levels comparable to established altcoins.
Usage patterns also indicate an overlap. Ethereum, Cardano, and Lido Staked Ether provide staking, decentralized finance, and smart contract capabilities. Memecoins primarily rely on social sentiment, but Dogecoin has gained adoption as a payment method. This suggests that certain memecoins function beyond speculation, supporting real-world transactions and community-driven initiatives.
Market Sentiment and Trends
Market sentiment trends align with these observations. A Google Trends analysis shows that search interest in altcoins surpasses that of memecoins. It suggests that traders and investors focus more on blockchain applications, possibly due to institutional involvement or ongoing developments.

However, memecoins experience spikes in interest that correspond with overall market movements, reflecting their speculative nature.
Meanwhile, the broader memecoin market cap stands at $75.6 billion, reflecting a 0.8% decline over the past 24 hours. The data suggests that market trends, liquidity shifts, and price volatility influence both memecoins and altcoins.
CZ Clarifies His Position on Meme Coins
In related news, Changpeng Zhao, co-founder and former CEO of Binance, recently addressed discussions regarding meme coins, clarifying his stance on the market. He stated that he did not purchase any meme coins while maintaining a neutral position on their role in the industry.

His remarks followed the listing of TST on Binance, a token he described as a test coin that later became a meme coin. Zhao emphasized that he was not involved in Binance’s listing process and reiterated the competitive nature of exchanges when adding new tokens.
Zhao denied any direct endorsement of TST, explaining that it was originally used for a video tutorial. He noted that each clarification post about the token seemed to increase its visibility. Despite the perception that he might be shifting focus away from fundamentals, Zhao reaffirmed his commitment to building and prioritizing fundamentals in crypto projects.
He addressed speculation about his personal involvement with meme coins, stating that he has not bought any. However, he clarified that not participating in meme coin investments does not indicate opposition to them. Zhao compared this stance to his lack of interest in sports cars, art collections, or NFTs, while still supporting the broader industry. He further emphasized his contributions to crypto development, including assistance to various altcoins and blockchain projects.
