Solana Whales Drop 135 Addresses with 10k+ SOL as Network Activity Declines 60%

Key Insights:

  • 135 Solana whale addresses reduce or redistribute holdings.
  • Solana network activity declines 60% from October 2024 peak.
  • Binance sells large amounts of SOL, raising market concerns.

The market conditions surrounding Solana are undergoing changes which do not indicate positive development. A total of 135 whale addresses which control over 10,000 SOL have either cut down or moved their SOL holdings during the last month.

Meanwhile, the network activity has decreased by 60% which demonstrates a major decline in user participation. Adding to the uncertainty, Binance has started selling its Solana holdings through multiple exchange transfers of millions of dollars worth of SOL tokens.

The combination of these factors creates market volatility for Solana, which prompts investors to assess if this short-term dip represents a major market transition.

Solana Whales’ Activity Signals Market Uncertainty

The decreasing number of large SOL holders causes market observers to become concerned. The number of whale addresses that decreased or redistributed their Solana holdings reached 135 since mid-January 2025 thus showing a distinct negative trend in whale behavior.

Historically, the market shows caution when whale investors decrease their participation because these large investors typically exit or consolidate their assets before significant price fluctuations.

Interestingly, the decrease in whale addresses on Solana appears at the same time the network faces declining prices. The price of Solana has declined steadily between late January and February as whale addresses showed reduced activity.

The selling behavior of whales together with their fund movements creates a clear relationship that predicts market volatility.

What specific implications arise from this situation? Whales leaving their positions signal to investors that Solana might face challenges in its short-term price direction. The movement of large holdings between wallets indicates a reallocation rather than a sell-off because redistribution does not match the definition of a sell-off.

Solana Network Activity Declines by 60%

The total network activity on Solana has decreased by 60% while whale movements continue to be tracked. The number of active addresses on Solana Network reached its maximum point at 18.5 million in October 2024 before experiencing a 60% decrease to its current level of 7.3 million active addresses.

This is more than just a number—it reflects real shifts in user behaviour. The maximum network engagement on Solana occurred in October 2024, when its price exceeded $100. The simultaneous decrease of price and network activity has formed a self-perpetuating cycle where declining usage generates negative investor sentiment.

Binance Sells Solana Holdings, Raising Concerns Over Market Impact

Adding even more pressure, Binance continues to sell its Solana holdings by transferring large amounts to exchanges including Coinbase, Kraken and Wintermute.

The numbers paint a stark picture:

  • 7.83K SOL ($1.25M) moved just 17 minutes ago
  • 7.61K SOL ($1.21M) transferred two hours ago
  • 10.19K SOL ($1.63M) sent to Coinbase three hours ago
  • 23.92K SOL ($3.85M) moved four hours ago

The massive volume of SOL sales by Binance implies an extensive selling operation that might lead to market price declines.

But why is Binance making this move? It could be a strategic shift, a reaction to market conditions, or an attempt to mitigate risk. The impact on investor sentiment is undeniable. If one of the largest exchanges is selling, it could signal concerns over Solana’s long-term outlook.

Meanwhile, Solana is facing a bearish trend, with the price dropping 7.72% to $140.60 and a market cap of $69.64 billion, reflecting a 6.93% decrease.

Despite this, trading volume surged by 112.67%, reaching $10.78 billion. The price is approaching a critical horizontal support around $127, which could act as a pivot point.

If this support holds, Solana may see a recovery toward higher levels. However, if it breaks below $127, further downside may occur, with potential support levels being tested as the market awaits a reversal or continuation of the trend.
