Key Highlights:
- BTC inflows drop 54%, hinting at weak market demand
- Hot Supply plunges 50%, showing reduced speculative trading
- $1.88B in liquidations risk if Bitcoin breaks below $80K
Bitcoin exchange inflows have fallen by 54%, accompanied by a drop in Hot Supply of over 50%. Additionally, futures open interest has decreased by 35%.
Additionally, BTC falling below $80K poses a risk to $1.88 Billion worth of long positions in the market. This heightened the selling pressure.
Bitcoin Inflows Plunge 54%, Indicating Weak Demand
Bitcoin exchange inflows have dropped significantly, declining by 54%. They decreased from their earlier rate of 58.6K BTC per day to 26.9K BTC per day, according to Glassnode.
This suggests that the number of traders depositing BTC on exchanges has reduced significantly. This is because traders generally move their coins to exchanges for sale purposes.
Bitcoin exchange inflows reached their highest point in early 2024. This surge occurred when Bitcoin’s value exceeded $70K, leading many investors to sell their assets.
The sharp drop in Bitcoin inflows suggests a shift in investor behavior. Many holders now move their BTC into offline storage rather than engage in active trading.

At first glance, decreased exchange inflows are positive for the token since they reduce short-term selling activity. However, the decline in transfers to exchanges might present two possible interpretations of market demand.
On one hand, the market price shows decreased activity as capital exits, while purchasing activity remains low. Moreover, the decline of Bitcoin to $70K matches this trend, as both trading volume and market liquidity have decreased.
BTC Hot Supply Drops 50%, Indicating Reduced Speculation
The substantial drop in Hot Supply is a key indicator of market activity. It tracks explicitly Bitcoin transactions over the past seven days.
Glassnode reports that the Hot Supply has decreased. It has fallen by 2.8% of the total circulating Bitcoin supply in the last three months, starting at 5.9%.
Therefore, a reduction of Hot Supply by 50% indicates that Bitcoin trading activity has slowed down. As a result, fewer BTC are changing hands in active market speculation.

Moreover, the price of Hot Supply tends to increase during bullish times, as traders move Bitcoin for short-term trading purposes. Also, BTC price rally in early 2024 coincided with Hot Supply reaching its highest point, subsequently decreasing steadily.
The market data indicated a transformation towards holding behavior instead of high speculative activity. Consequently, reducing short-term price volatility through this method brings lower market liquidity that could slow down price fluctuations.
Futures Open Interest Drops 35% as Leverage Unwinds
Meanwhile, the reduction in speculative activity becomes evident through Bitcoin futures open interest falling 35%. In December 2024, the total futures open interest reached its highest point at $57 Billion.
However, it then decreased to $37 Billion by March 2025. This market data showed that traders are withdrawing their leveraged positions while exiting their positions in the market.

Furthermore, a significant drop in open interest indicates that fewer market participants want to expose themselves to substantial market risks. Market uncertainty and declining momentum and liquidation fears appear to be the main reason behind this drop.
The recent market drop corresponds with a broader on-chain liquidity trend, demonstrating that capital is leaving speculative markets. A reduction in leveraged positions could lead to lower Bitcoin volatility. Still, price stability may persist until fresh demand enters the market.
$1.88B in Liquidations Loom as BTC Hovers Above $80K
According to Coinglass liquidation data, Bitcoin will trigger $1.88 Billion worth of long position liquidations. This could be seen when it drops to $80,000. This is important because market liquidations produce a snowball effect, where forced selling triggers further price drops.

Moreover, the majority of traders have established their positions at 50x and 100x leverage to buy BTC through borrowed funds.
As a result, the positions of traders automatically close when the price moves against them. This adds more selling pressure to the market.
This explains why the market tends to move towards regions with substantial liquidation clusters. It leads to the increased probability of short-term price drops.
