Altseason appears to be entering a fresh phase, with a series of technical and sentiment-based signals aligning across the market. Analysts and crypto influencers are pointing to a major shift in capital rotation, supported by historical market cycles, recent resets in the Altcoin Season Index, and emerging accumulation patterns across mid-cap tokens.
While the Altcoin Market Cap has not yet surged to parabolic heights, many see the groundwork now laid for the next explosive move.
Altseason Index Hits Ground Zero, Resetting Conditions
According to Bitconsensus, the Altcoin Season Index has returned to its baseline levels, hitting zones last seen after the August 2024 crash. The crash had been triggered by disruptions in the Japanese cash-and-carry trade, which temporarily distorted altcoin flows. With the index once again at ground zero, history indicates that there could be a launching pad to a new cycle.

The supporting chart indicated that the index rebounded against the 16-20 range, just as the main turning points in 2017 and 2020. These zones historically precede major altseason rallies, where altcoins outperform Bitcoin across multiple metrics.
With sentiment near neutral and Bitcoin dominance peaking, the current setup mirrors prior accumulation phases that led to exponential altcoin returns.
Notably, the reset happens when the volatility of Bitcoin has begun to be compressed. In past cycles, this trend often signals capital rotation into riskier assets like altcoins.
Analyst Points to 250x Altseason by June 2025
Crypto analyst Sensei shared a chart tracking the total altcoin market cap since 2016. The chart demonstrated three huge expansion stages, an 80x move up to June 2017, a 120x rush up to June 2021, and a 250x + expected by June 2025. The chart also outlined how each altseason has exceeded the previous one in scale and magnitude.

If this fractal pattern plays out, altcoins could reach a total market cap of over $5 trillion within the next 12 months. The long-term ascending trend line in the chart has not been violated, and this means that the macro support holds well in spite of corrections. Remarkably, the consolidation range that is developing at the level of the $1.5 trillion is resembling pre-breakout patterns on prior cycles.
Second Half of 2025 Will Be Altseason Prime Time
Crypto analyst Michaël van de Poppe added that the best strategy now is to accumulate altcoins during dips. In his analysis, the period between the second part of the year has the most favorable time in history in terms of the performance of altcoins.
He expects that many tokens have plenty of potential to deliver 5x to 20x returns during this cycle as a result of improved fundamentals and declining risk premiums.

His input is based on past seasonal trends where Bitcoin has historically created a downstream of capital. Altcoins tend to offer exponential returns over a short duration as liquidity cycles. As numerous altcoins have now established higher lows and have tested the breakout, van de Poppe thinks the overall market structure is strong enough to drive an aggressive move soon.
Additionally, the latest implementation within leading altcoin ecosystems, including Layer 2 scaling, AI token, and real-world asset tokenization, has also made investors more confident. These catalysts may have the fundamental narrative setup fuel needed to bring a longer altseason.
Market Structure Favors Breakout
Beyond sentiment, the structural elements of the crypto market suggest altseason conditions are becoming favorable. Bitcoin’s dominance has shown signs of topping out, and Ethereum dominance is stabilizing, giving altcoins room to run. DEX volume is also rebounding, which indicate growing speculative interest in low-cap assets.
Altcoin projects with strong narratives, particularly those tied to gaming, DePIN, AI, and modular infrastructure, have begun leading in performance. Smart money wallets are taking their early positions by accumulating in the intervals that correspond to long-term technical breakouts.
Furthermore, funding rates and open interest in altcoin perpetuals remain low, indicating that leverage has not yet flooded the system. This gives room for organic price discovery before retail mania sets in. Analysts suggest that once Bitcoin consolidates further, altcoins could follow with swift, outsized moves.
