Key Insights:
- Ethereum posts +33.47% Q2 gain, reversing sharp Q1 losses
- BlackRock leads ETF market with $3.85B in ETH holdings
- On-chain data shows rising smart money and new ETH address growth
Ethereum has recorded a strong Q2 recovery with a 33.47% return, reversing its prior quarter’s sharp decline of over 45%. This performance coincides with a wave of institutional accumulation, led by BlackRock’s $3.85 billion investment in Ethereum via its ETF. With Q3 underway, market sentiment is shifting, and analysts are watching closely for a potential breakout toward the $4,000 level.
Institutional Interest Accelerates with BlackRock’s Dominance
BlackRock now holds 1.57 million ETH through its ETF product, representing 40.7% of the total ETH ETF market. This positions it well ahead of other issuers such as Grayscale, Fidelity, and Bitwise, who collectively trail BlackRock’s volume and dominance.
The scale of this investment underscores growing institutional confidence in Ethereum as a long-term asset.
Grayscale’s ETHE and Mini products account for 42.6% combined market share, but with higher fees of up to 2.5%, they face pressure from BlackRock’s more cost-effective 0.25% structure.

Meanwhile, Fidelity and Bitwise ETFs maintain moderate holdings, but the clear trend points to institutional capital flowing toward the most efficient and trusted issuers. BlackRock’s low-fee, high-trust model is drawing the largest inflows.
As ETFs gain market share, they now actively shape Ethereum’s price dynamics. ETF buying power has increasingly become a major demand driver, while retail trading volume remains steady.
The aggregation of capital into regulated financial instruments marks a structural shift in how Ethereum is accessed by large-scale investors.
On-Chain Data Shows Smart Money Holding, Not Selling
According to recent on-chain reports, Abraxas Capital staked $145.7 million in ETH within two days, an indication that they have a high-conviction behavior.
These were large, frequent transactions that took place on the Aave and other DeFi platforms and included both ETH and WSTETH. This kind of behaviour is usually an indication of long-term positioning and not short-term speculation or exit activity.
Ethereum also led all blockchains in stablecoin supply growth, adding over $127.6 billion in value recently.

This inflow underlines the fact that ETH is the most liquid base layer of decentralized finance, which further asserts it as the chain of choice to move value. Increased supply of stablecoins is usually followed by more trading and growth of the ecosystem.

The rate of user growth is also increasing, and more than 3.87 million new addresses were created on the Ethereum network in June 2025 alone.
This degree of address creation is the highest since 2021, and indicates growing adoption by new market entrants. Together with low selling pressure and exacerbating liquidity, these factors reinforce the bullish case going into Q3.
Ethereum Price Outlook: Holding Key Levels, Targeting Breakout
Meanwhile, ETH has been consolidating around $2,440 and remains in a vital support region. According to Ted, a crypto analyst, the $2,550 resistance, should it be overcome, might trigger an upside move to the next target at $2,860 and potentially to the $4,000 mark.

It is still within a narrow range on price action, yet a bullish continuation can be expected as long as the momentum keeps above that important level.
The technical indicators, such as RSI are at the resistance of long-term trendlines, and this implies that a breakout might result in an upward move.
The broadening wedge formation indicates a probable direction of the prices upwards, which is in line with past Q3 performances which have yielded returns of more than 30% in the last couple of years.

Ethereum had increased by 59.5% in the third quarter of 2020 and by 31.86% in the third quarter of 2021, which serves as a positive example.
Further upside is also backed by volume and liquidity zones, with accumulation zones also well established around the $2,300 to 2,400 price level. As long as ETH holds above these levels, the bulls have the upper hand going into mid-Q3.
