Figma IPO Targets $1B Raise With Bitcoin ETF, Blockchain Stock Strategy

Key Insights:

  • Figma aims to raise $1B through its IPO with a valuation of $16.5B, slightly lower than Adobe’s 2022 acquisition offer.
  • The company has diversified its financial strategy, holding $70M in Bitcoin ETFs and $30M in USDC reserves.
  • Figma plans to leverage blockchain technology for issuing stock, signaling its commitment to innovation and digital assets.

Figma has submitted an official application to the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) to list its initial public offering (IPO). The company wants to raise $1 billion by issuing more than $36 million in shares.

The shares will likely be priced at between $25 and $28, with the IPO expected to price late in July. The filing demonstrates an intended completely diluted valuation of around $16.5 billion, which is also a serious turning point in the evolution of Figma.

This multi-year rise would give Figma a market value of around $15.9 billion at the halfway point of its proposed price range. This will significantly increase since its last private valuation of $12.5 billion. Despite this, less than $20 billion has been offered to buy the company by Adobe in September 2022, as shown by PitchBook data.

According to Wu Blockchain, the company has already attracted more than $740 million in venture capital funding by such high-profile investors as Andreessen Horowitz, Sequoia Capital, and General Catalyst.

Nevertheless, even after the slight losses experienced, such as a net loss of $732 million in 2024 and a one-time tax-related expense, Figma has recorded high revenue figures, achieving $228 million in revenue in the first quarter of 2025.

The company further had a net income of $45 million, which is an indication that the company will be quite profitable in the future.

Bitcoin ETF Holdings Add to the Company’s Financial Strategy

Besides his IPO registration, Figma was surprised by another significant advancement in its financial plan. The company revealed that it invests in a Bitcoin ETF in an amount of about $70 million, an investment made in March of the current year.

The company’s USDC reserves amount to $30 million. The Bitcoin ETF share portfolio results from the larger program involving a structured emission of shares. This is called the blockchain common stock using blockchain-deployed tokens.

Figma, however, indicated that it has no immediate intention of issuing such blockchain shares. This is regardless of whether the right has been obtained.

The filing by Figma is also in a period where venture capital technology companies are increasingly welcoming to the concept of public listing.

Some tech investors feel more optimistic that going public may be more feasible after several years of reluctance, partly driven by market volatility and regulatory issues.

Figma IPO Faces Competitive Pressures Amid Adobe and AI Market Shift

The IPO filing of Figma is bound to be questioned due to Adobe’s remaining dominance in the sphere of software design. The nature of the competitive rivalry between Figma and Adobe would only be further heightened given the recent disruption of AI over Adobe.

The share price of Adobe has declined by 18% since the beginning of the year. This is partly because investors questioned the firm against its generative AI rivals.

However, Figma is positioning itself in a manner that would help it take an upper hand on these changes in the industry. The continuous emergence of AI-based design platforms puts the likes of Figma at the center of the design world under transformation.

With its rule-breaking strategy, such as investing in Bitcoin ETFs and using blockchain to issue stocks, Figma could be poised for a bullish year regarding company value.
