XRP Ledger (XRPL) To Welcome Three Major Amendments In Weeks, Here’s What To Expect

Key Insights:

  • Three XRPL amendments set for activation on the mainnet following validator backing.
  • Tokenized asset value rose from $5 million to $118 million on the XRP Ledger in six months
  • RLUSD stablecoin market cap passed $65 million on the XRPL with these updates designed to boost asset growth.

After gaining strong backing from validators, the XRP Ledger (XRPL) will soon add three updates.

The amendments are expected to go live on August 29, 2025, and may affect the network’s trading, payment channels, and NFT rules.

Three Amendments Ready for Activation on XRP Ledger

Three amendments on the XRP Ledger, known as fixAMMv1_3, fixPayChanCancelAfter, and fixEnforceNFTokenTrustlineV2, each passed the voting threshold needed to move forward.

Out of 35 total votes, 30 supported each amendment and 5 voted against, giving a consensus of 85.71%. The threshold required for approval was 28 votes in favor.

These changes were introduced in version 2.5.0 of the ledger software. Each is now in a 14-day countdown phase.

All three amendments will be activated automatically on August 29, 2025 if support stays current.

The fixAMMv1_3 amendment involves updates to the automated market maker system, which is part of the trading functions on the ledger.

On its part, the fixPayChanCancelAfter amendment changes how payment channels can be cancelled.

The fixEnforceNFTokenTrustlineV2 amendment adjusts how trustlines work for non-fungible tokens. It can help manage access and transactions for these assets when it goes live.

At the time of the latest report, the status for all three amendments was listed as “not enabled,” but their activation appeared likely given the high level of current support.

Growth in Tokenization on the XRPL

It is worth noting that the XRP Ledger has seen rapid growth in tokenizing real-world assets.

The total value of these tokenized assets rose from about $5 million in January to more than $118 million by mid-year.

According to market data, this growth increased by over 2,000% in six months.

More companies and institutions have shown interest in using the ledger to tokenize assets such as US government bonds, corporate bonds, and real estate.

A post from the account HighVibeAssets on X claimed that the ledger could host tokenized versions of government and corporate bonds worth a combined $100 trillion.

In addition, the post also mentioned that some non-disclosure agreements were ending.

Invariably, this could lead to new announcements from Ripple, the company that created the ledger.

Along with tokenization, the network’s decentralized finance (DeFi) sector has expanded.

The total value locked in DeFi protocols on the ledger reached $86.66 million, which marked a 57% rise.

The ledger now processes about 1.77 million transactions daily and has very low median fees of around 0.000037 US dollars.

Ties to XRP and RLUSD Stablecoin Use

It is important to add that beyond XRP, the Ledger has also become home to several stablecoins.

RLUSD, one of the newer additions, has grown to over $65 million.

More importantly, the ledger also supports USDC, a major dollar-backed stablecoin.

This stablecoin activity points to wider uses for the ledger beyond cross-border payments, including trading, tokenized assets, and institutional financial services.

The network runs on more than 900 nodes spread across the world. Over 170 of these are validator nodes participating in the consensus process.

Ripple operates only a small number of these validators, about 1% of the total, which helps keep the network decentralized.

Meanwhile, market participants believe the upcoming amendments could help improve different parts of the system.

Changes to the market maker could affect liquidity and trading. Also, updates to payment channels could make closing them more efficient, and NFT trustline changes could strengthen asset control.

If activated as expected, these updates would add to the ledger’s ongoing role in the evolution of the digital currency ecosystem.
