Grayscale Submits S-1 Filing for Spot AVAX ETF:  What’s Next for Avalanche Price?

Key Insights:

  • Grayscale’s AVAX ETF filing could boost institutional demand for Avalanche.
  • Avalanche weak at $25 with momentum indicators bearish.
  • Coinbase Custody protects AVAX assets, providing safe asset management.

Avalanche price continues trading above $24 despite a minor market cool-off. The token signals bullish momentum, with investors closely watching developments. Optimism grows after Grayscale officially filed an S-1 registration with the SEC for a spot Avalanche (AVAX) exchange-traded fund.

Grayscale Files for AVAX ETF Listing

Grayscale Investments has taken another step in broadening its digital asset offerings. The firm has become the first company to file an S-1 registration statement with the U.S Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) on Avalanche (AVAX).

The trust will be organized to act as a Delaware statutory trust where the investors will be provided with shares to own a beneficial interest in AVAX holdings. Should the shares pass, the shares will be listed on the Nasdaq exchange under the ticker symbol AVAX, enabling investors to acquire exposure to Avalanche by using standard brokerage accounts without having to custody crypto.

The structure would be similar to those of the Bitcoin and Ethereum trusts of Grayscale. It will keep the native token of the Avalanche network and provide a tracking rate on the reference index price. Coinbase Custody: The digital asset custodian is Coinbase Custody, which will hold the digital assets. BNY Mellon: The transfer agency, administration provider will be BNY Mellon.

This structure will provide security, transparency, and good operations to allow the thousands of institutional investors, as well as retail investors, to have access to AVAX with less hassle.

Rising Competition in Altcoin ETFs

This Grayscale filing is in the wake of increasing competition in the field of altcoin exchange-traded products. Last month Asset manager VanEck also filed an S-1 application to create an Avalanche ETF of its own.

Meanwhile, Nasdaq submitted Form 19b-4 in order to initiate the listing procedure for Grayscale’s product. Both the S-1 registration and the rule change of the exchange need to be cleared off by the SEC before the trading can ensue. The Commission must approve, reject or extend its decision on the proposal within a time limit of July 15, 2025.

The Grayscale Avalanche ETF would trade in Blocks of 10000 shares referred to as Baskets, by redeeming or issuing them to or with an authorized participant. By being physically backed by AVAX, the fund should capture the market value of the asset, as well as strive to have lower operational costs.

The proposed listing is an important milestone for Avalanche, as it adds to cryptocurrencies such as Bitcoin and Ethereum already marketed by Grayscale. In case it passed, the ETF would bring more institutional interest and possibly a boost to the performance of AVAX in the market.

Avalanche Price Struggled at $25 Resistance as Momentum Weakened.

Avalanche price was trading below the $25 mark on August 25, as bulls failed to defend their prices on this level. The AVAX slipped to $24.21, showing signs of fading strength despite earlier momentum. Sellers gained ground after the rejection, pushing the asset closer to its short-term support.

The Relative Strength Index (RSI) dropped to 44, which is a sign of weakening buying power.

The Moving Average Convergence Divergence (MACD) too formed a bearish crossover as the signal line crossed over the MACD line. This was reflecting a possible increasing chance of further declines.

The 4-hour chart indicated an important support point at the level of $22. This zone was still a defensive zone in which buyers had once intervened.

On the upside, resistance levels were placed at $25, $27.50, and $30. A breakout above $27.50 would have indicated a potential to continue sideways bullish, and breaking below $22 would have indicated a possible extended pull back.
