Bitcoin price has reached a new all-time high of $125,000 as of October 5, setting a fresh record for 2025. Traders and analysts attribute the rise to strong ETF inflows, potential U.S. rate cuts, and renewed interest during what investors refer to as the “Uptober” rally.
Bitcoin Price Sets New All-Time High
Bitcoin price crossed $125,000 for the first time, breaking its previous record of $124,400 set in August. Data from CoinMarketCap showed that the coin rose from about $123,099.86 earlier in the day before reaching the new peak.
The move marked another strong start for October, which has often been one of Bitcoin’s best months.
Standard Chartered’s head of digital assets research, Geoffrey Kendrick, said earlier in the week that Bitcoin price could still rise further. He maintained his year-end target of $200,000, citing ETF inflows and political uncertainty in the United States as key drivers.
Kendrick stated that Bitcoin ETFs had already seen nearly $50 billion in inflows this year and that the figure could increase by an additional $20 billion before the end of the year. He added that the ongoing U.S. government shutdown might also play a part.
According to him, Bitcoin now reacts closely to government risk and Treasury changes. That could help it move higher.
Prediction site Polymarket estimated a 60% chance that the shutdown would last between 10 and 29 days. Kendrick said such a scenario could lift Bitcoin further in the short term.
The “Uptober” Rally and Market Reactions
October has built a reputation for being a good month for Bitcoin, with the price often rising during this period. So far, the coin has increased by more than 6% this month, indicating renewed investor confidence. Many traders have started to refer to this recurring rise as the “Uptober” rally.
Still, not everyone agrees that the rally reflects new market strength. Market analyst Miles Deutscher said that Bitcoin’s all-time highs may not tell the full story.

He pointed out that the dollar has lost value, which makes assets like Bitcoin, gold, and stocks appear to be climbing. “You have no choice but to join the party or be left behind,” he said on X.
Other analysts said that investors are reacting to possible changes in U.S. interest rates. Reports suggest there is a 97% chance that the Federal Reserve will cut rates by 25 basis points at its next meeting.
A softer labor market has added to the belief that a cut is likely. Traders say that lower interest rates often make risk assets like Bitcoin more attractive.
Bitcoin Dominance Returns as Market Adjusts
Bitcoin’s share of the total crypto market, known as dominance, has also started to rise again.
In September, trader Daan Crypto Trades said that Bitcoin dominance was moving down but could soon recover. On October 5, he confirmed that Bitcoin was now retaking ground as it pushed to new highs.
He said this shift could be healthy for the market. If Bitcoin price leads the move first, it can help set a stronger base before other major coins, like Ethereum, start to rise again. In his post on X, Daan added that if all assets move together too quickly, the rally might not last long.
On-chain tracker Lookonchain also noted that a whale wallet known as 0x0a07 now holds nearly $15 million in unrealized profits from Bitcoin and PUMP positions.

The trader had already made $2.5 million from earlier Bitcoin and Ethereum longs. Bitcoin’s recent move past $125,000 shows the strength of demand in the market.
Whether it can hold this level or move higher will depend on how ETF inflows, government actions, and investor sentiment play out in the coming weeks.
