The market seems to be declining each time, with Bitcoin facing more weakness. The price action fell below $90,000 once again, with valuation now stabilizing below the $100K mark. Michael Saylor’s BTC treasury firm, Strategy, formerly MicroStrategy, has seized this opportunity.
Institutions are bolstering Strategy’s BTC position by purchasing its stock with additional capital. However, BTC and MSTR stock prices remain in a bear market structure. Are institutions capitalizing on the market correction, or is it a trick to lure retail into buying a bear market?
Their interdependence raises questions about whether the ongoing activities in the Bitcoin space alongside MSTR’s could spark a market reversal.
Strategy Acquires $980M BTC: What’s Next for Bitcoin Price?
According to a post by Michael Saylor on X (formerly Twitter), Strategy has acquired approximately 10,645 BTC, worth more than $980 million at the time of writing. This brought Strategy’s total holdings to 681,268 BTC tokens, valued at more than $50 billion.
When writing, the Bitcoin treasury firm had attained BTC Yield of 24.9% year-to-date (YTD) for 2025. This followed a significant acquisition at an average price of $92,098. The activity was an indication of the belief that Strategy and Saylor had in the long-term outlook of BTC.

As a result, the price of Bitcoin could rise due to the capital inflow. Conversely, the correction could persist with price action tightening further as an indication of compression before a strong move.
While the company was busy adding to its holdings, institutions were backing their belief. But how was this evident in their doings?
New York State Common Retirement Fund Buys MSTR
The company acquires more funding by selling their stock shares to individuals and institutions. This time round, it was the institutions that were making the move, with a $284 billion U.S. fund adding to their position.
As per a post by BTCTreasuries on X, the New York State Common Retirement Fund increased their MSTR holdings to $50 million. From the operations at Strategy, these funds would be used to acquire more BTC, reducing the share percentage of each individual.
Even if the method reduces the share ownership of each individual, it keeps the company afloat with funds to make more BTC purchases. This enables continued acquisition of BTC, which is the company’s core investment strategy.
BTC Price and MSTR Price Analysis
The charts showed a downward trend in the prices of both Bitcoin and Strategy stock. The daily chart showed a triangle-like tightening of the Bitcoin price. This move is after being in a downtrend since early October.
Bitcoin price affects the price of MSTR stock. This explains why MSTR stock reflects every drop in the BTC price. According to Crypto King, breaking to the upside could push Bitcoin above the $100K mark.

The breakout could, however, be delayed, as volatility was low in the crypto markets alongside their stock associates. As of press time, the MSTR stock was trading at $172 and appeared to be heading towards $130. This level appeared as the potential bottom for MSTR if the current pattern was respected.
The price action chart of MSTR showed that it was about to complete its fifth move of the Elliot wave pattern. However, the move did not necessarily end above $130, as it could drop below $100 before a reversal.

Altogether, the price movement of MSTR was dependent on BTC direction, as its valuation is pegged to the price of Bitcoin. For BTC, institutional and whale purchases could spark the reversal, as the market is currently bearish.
