• Editing — a section editor reviews the draft for factual accuracy, sourcing quality, and editorial standards compliance.
• Fact verification — specific claims, figures, and quotations are cross-checked against the sources cited in the article.
• Publication — the article is published under the author’s real name with a datestamp. Any subsequent material change triggers an editor’s note.

When we get something wrong, we say so in the open. Our approach to fixing published work is set out on our corrections page, and every reader is welcome to flag an error for review.

How We Assign Coverage

Coverage is assigned by beat, not by volume. Each market segment is owned by the author or authors best placed to report it, so that a story about central bank policy is written by someone who follows monetary policy closely, and an on-chain story is written by someone who reads the data every day. When an event straddles more than one market — a listed company adding Bitcoin to its balance sheet, say — the relevant desks collaborate, and the byline reflects who did the reporting. Section editors match stories to authors, weigh competing claims on the same subject, and make sure no single piece drifts outside its author’s area of competence.

Freelance & Contributor Standards

Contributors to The Market Periodical, whether staff or freelance, are required to disclose any financial interest in assets they cover, comply with our ethics policy, and publish only under their real names. Pseudonymous bylines are not permitted. Freelance contributors are held to the same sourcing, verification, and disclosure standards as staff, and their work passes through the same editing and fact-checking process before publication. AI tools may assist with research tasks, but all published body content is written and verified by human authors. We do not publish undisclosed sponsored content as editorial, and any commercial relationship that could bear on coverage must be declared under our ethics standards.
