- Bitcoin ETF options offer a versatile way to manage exposure, catering to speculative traders and more risk-averse investors.
Bitwise Asset Management is in the limelight due to its most recent development. The company just confirmed that on November 20, it will start trading options for its Bitcoin ETF, BTIB.
In a Nov. 19 post on X, Hunter Horsley stated: “We expect options on the Bitwise Bitcoin ETF (BITB) to begin trading Wednesday.”
With the launch of options for BITB, experts predict increased liquidity and wider adoption of Bitcoin ETFs. This feature is expected to offer more ways for investors to manage their Bitcoin exposure.
Experts in the industry anticipate that it will boost market liquidity and draw in new investors. It can further integrate Bitcoin into the mainstream financial system.
Bitcoin ETFs Gain Momentum Amid Regulatory Challenges
Bitwise’s news comes shortly after BlackRock‘s iShares Bitcoin Trust (IBIT) announcement. The announcement coincided with the that by the end of November, it will start options trading.
According to Jeff Park, a Bloomberg analyst, these changes may open the door for the market to see additional Bitcoin ETFs. The introduction of options is expected to boost market activity by providing more robust trading tools.
However, regulatory challenges remain a concern for Bitcoin ETF options trading. Jeff Park, Head of Alpha Strategies at Bitwise, pointed out issues with position limits, particularly with IBIT.
Since IBIT might hold up to 400,000 options, he noted that the current cap of 25,000 contracts should be set.
Park drew a comparison to CME Bitcoin futures, which have a higher cap of around 175,000 ETF options contracts. He cautioned that such limits could distort the market by amplifying volatility and complicating transactions for typical buyers and sellers.
Despite this, he encouraged retail traders to monitor smaller ETFs. That may offer untapped opportunities.
Strong Demand for Bitcoin ETFs: November 19 Inflows
On November 19, crypto analysis platform SoSoValue reported a daily net inflow of $824.22 Million into spot Bitcoin ETFs. This highlighted strong and sustained interest in these products.

Among the top three Bitcoin ETFs, BlackRock‘s iShares Bitcoin Trust saw $216.12 Million in daily inflows.
Other notable ETFs included Fidelity’s FBTC with $256.15 Million, VanEck’s HODL with $7.9 million, and Bitwise’s BITB at $52.75 Million. Moreover, ARK 21Shares ARKB witnessed $267.34 Million inflows.
Grayscale’s GBTC and mini fund also saw inflows of $16.19 million. That underscored the growing popularity of Bitcoin ETFs.
These trends highlighted the increasing demand for Bitcoin-based investment products. This reflected the market’s maturation and presented new opportunities for retail and institutional investors.
SEC Supervision Strengthens the Launch of Bitcoin ETF Options
In 2024, the regulatory landscape for Bitcoin ETF options underwent significant changes, with the CFTC transferring its authority to the SEC.
Jeff Park commended the CFTC’s decision, which helped facilitate a smoother introduction of these investment products. He emphasized the importance of SEC oversight, as ETF option activations are subject to specific securities regulations.
“If the CFTC had been as politicized as the SEC, we might not have had a fair launch at all. Their willingness to cede authority for ETF options to the SEC, recognizing them as securities within the scope of the law, is commendable.”
Industry experts anticipate that clearer regulations will drive further innovation and increase the adoption of Bitcoin ETFs.
These recent developments reflect growing confidence among regulators that Bitcoin can be integrated into the traditional financial system. This marks a significant milestone in the evolution of the cryptocurrency investment sector.
