Market Buzzes as $2.6 Billion Crypto Options Expire
The options data for January 3 was higher than usual as they demonstrated increased activity. 20,000 Bitcoin (BTC) expired at a put-call ratio of 0.69. This highlighted that more long contracts are expiring than short contracts.
The notional value of these options was $1.93 Billion, with a maximum pain point of $97,000. On the ETH crypto side, 206,000 ETH options expired with a put call ratio of 0.81. It had a max pain point of $3,400 and a notional value of $710 Million.

Bitcoin Spot ETFs Report $242M Outflow As Funds Show Mixed Trends
Yesterday, Bitcoin spot ETFs observed an outflow of $242 Million. This depicted an extremely bearish trend among the investors. Among the fund’s outflow, the largest was recorded in BlackRock’s IBIT ETF. It declined by $332 Million as investors locked profits.

Conversely, Bitwise received $48.31 Million in net investments through BITB ETF. Also, Fidelity’s ETF, FBTC, saw inflows of $36.20 Million as institutional players still have an interest.
These fluctuations were likely affected by macroeconomic factors and year-end positioning adjustments. Overall outflows from Bitcoin spot ETFs reflected short-term caution. However, inflows into other funds have shown a continuation of long-term interest in Bitcoin as an investment asset.
Ethereum Spot ETF Records $77.51 Million Outflows Amid Grayscale Setback
On January 2, there was a total net outflow of $77.51 Million. This occurred as investor interest in Ethereum spot ETFs was dampened that day. Furthermore, like the Grayscale Bitcoin Trust (GBTC), its Ethereum ETF (ETHE) also witnessed a single-day redemption of $21.40 Million.

This makes for contrasting flows, with recent inflows appearing quite strong, contrasted with large sudden outflows. It indicated short-term uncertainty among investors.
Despite the volatility, spot ETFs’ total net asset value demonstrated global institutional interest in the asset class. All eyes are on how movements will play out in their wake to pick up on broader market trends.
