Key Insights:
- Solana’s largest token unlock until 2028 could drive major price shifts.
- Over 1.4M SOL worth $37M will enter circulation, raising selling pressure.
- If SOL holds $100 support, analysts see a breakout toward $186 ahead.
Solana price is facing renewed volatility as the largest token unlock event since 2021 enters the spotlight. According to Arkham Intelligence, over 1.4 million SOL tokens, worth nearly $37 million, will be unlocked and enter circulation. This unlock, the biggest until 2028, has raised concerns about increasing selling pressure and its potential impact on Solana’s price action.
SOL token is hovering slightly above the $100 price mark, which is a crucial support level for the asset. Analysts have noted that this level is significant in sustaining the rest of the bullish trend. If Solana fails to hold at this point, then it could potentially see a reversal, which will greatly reduce the price. However, if buyers defend the zone, a breakout rally toward $186 remains possible.
Largest Unlock Event in Years
Four accounts involved in the event had originally staked their SOL tokens in April 2021. At current market prices, these accounts have seen a return of over 5.5 times their original investment. The biggest individual unlock will release 991,079 SOL tokens worth around $27.3 million. Three other wallets will release 297,323 SOL ($7.43M), 74,330 SOL ($1.97M), and 34,687 SOL ($936K), respectively.

Analysts believe that the issuer effect could lead to panic selling due to the significant increase in the circulating supply. If these token holders decide to offload their holdings, the market could face short-term selling pressure.
Solana Price Inflation Still a Concern
In January, crypto analyst artchick.eth outlined Solana’s unlock schedule through 2028. At the time, Solana’s inflation rate stood at 4.715%. Between January and February alone, more than 13.6 million SOL worth $1.5 billion entered circulation. Many of those tokens were acquired at much lower prices, particularly during FTX auctions when SOL price traded at around $64.

Prior unlocks provoked concerns for price fluctuations and Solana held steady. However, the state of the market in the year 2025 has become much more conservative than it was previously. With Solana’s market cap hovering around the top ten cryptocurrencies, large unlock events are now receiving more attention.
Solana Price Technical Levels: $100 Support and $186 Resistance
Crypto analyst Crypto Patel recently highlighted the $100–$115 zone as a key support area. This level corresponds with Fibonacci levels and prior accumulation zones. Patel stressed that sustaining this level could present an opportunity for future advances. However, he also stated that the price could fall to the $70- $50 level in case of a breakdown below $100.

This same level supported Solana’s 2,100% surge between 2020 and 2021. If SOL retests the zone, long-term investors may view it as a prime opportunity to accumulate. Analysts emphasize the need to monitor volume and short-term support closely.
If $100 support holds and SOL price rebounds, the next resistance level is around $147. A breakout above $186 would signal a confirmed bullish trend. That could attract new buyers and help restore market confidence in Solana’s development roadmap.
Beyond technicals, Solana has seen encouraging signs from institutions. The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) recently acknowledged Fidelity’s application for a spot Solana ETF. The proposed fund would trade on the Cboe BZX Exchange. If approved, it could bring greater adoption and institutional investment into the Solana ecosystem.
Meanwhile, whale activity remains mixed. While some large wallets are set to unlock and potentially sell, others are accumulating. This tug-of-war underlines the uncertain outlook for SOL in the short term.
