Key Insights:
- Avalanche tops 1M daily transactions twice after MapleStory N’s launch on May 15.
- Nexon’s Web3 game attracts over 1M players, driving 5.8M transactions in a week.
- NXPC falls 64% despite growth in MapleStory user base and engagement.
Avalanche blockchain experienced a sharp increase in network activity following the release of MapleStory N. The game, launched on May 15 by Nexon, triggered the highest transaction count since early 2024, hitting 1 million daily transactions on two separate days.
The spike reflected a surge in Web3 gaming adoption. Avalanche recorded 5.8 million total transactions in the first week of June as MapleStory N attracted over 1 million players and 50,000 new daily accounts.
Avalanche Activity Surged After MapleStory Launch
On June 1 and June 7, Avalanche crossed 1 million daily transactions. This milestone followed the debut of MapleStory N, a blockchain-based game under Nexon’s MapleStory Universe built on Avalanche.

Avalanche was unable to cross 500,000 daily transactions in 2025 before the debut. However, the network has seen its highest traffic since the launch. Blockchain analytics platform Nansen reported that the total transactions for the week of June 2 were 5.8 million.
The rise in activity proves that gaming has a role in blockchain adoption. The combination of nostalgia, gameplay and Web3 mechanics in MapleStory has worked well to attract gamers and crypto enthusiasts. According to Avalanche, more than 850,000 transactions were associated with MapleStory N.
Nexon’s Web3 Strategy Draws New Users
The MapleStory Universe and its new token economy is being run by Nexon, a Tokyo-listed South Korean game developer. The broader digital asset strategy of the company includes holding 1,717 Bitcoin since April 2021, and this is what backs its Web3 efforts. Nexon’s reputation has worked to bring mainstream gamers into the blockchain ecosystem.
Features of blockchain, such as tradable items, in-game currency and user-generated content, are integrated with MapleStory. As a result, a virtual economy has been created with the game’s native token, Nexpace Coin (NXPC). However, based on CoinMarketCap data, NXPC has fallen 64.62% from its $3.84 peak to $1.35.
Even though the price dropped, the game has kept high engagement levels. According to the MSU Explorer on-chain tracker, more than 1 million players have joined since the launch. After May 29, daily new account signups shot up, averaging more than 50,000 users per day since then.
Avalanche Positions Itself in Web3 Gaming
Since late 2024, Avalanche has been focusing on gaming, with titles like Off The Grid on its GUNZ subnet being early groundwork. MapleStory N’s success solidifies its position as a gaming-oriented blockchain. It has been validated to support large-scale Web3 games by increasing transaction throughput.
However, the AVAX token only responded modestly, increasing 0.34% to $21.39 as of writing, but well below its $26 price on May 12. However, renewed interest from gamers could support it in the coming months, as its all-time high of $146 in November 2021 still remains distant. Price stability will be a function of continued usage.
The success of MapleStory N has shown that Web3 applications have a real-world impact in gaming. Measurable blockchain activity is directly translated into player behaviour such as item trading, content creation and currency usage. This could change how developers publish games on-chain.
Avalanche can scale and process high transaction volumes under gaming loads, which is not the case with slower chains. This partnership with Nexon could help more traditional game studios to venture into Web3 formats. As traffic grows and the user base widens, Avalanche is ready to take advantage of this momentum.
