Solana price rose above $217 after breaking out of a chart pattern on August 28, raising talk of a possible move toward $300.
Analysts pointed to signs of rotation away from Ethereum, while new institutional purchases added to Solana’s growing role in the market.
Solana Breakout Sparks New Price Target
It is worth noting that the Solana price has broken out of a triangle pattern. Market analyst Ali Martinez shared the move on X.
He noted that Solana’s price could now be on track to reach $300. At the time, the price stood near $213 on Binance, showing a gain of almost 5% in one day.

Another analyst, Gordon, shared on X that Solana had reached a bottom compared to Ethereum.
He said that future trading rotations between the two would likely be sharp and point higher. This view added to growing attention on Solana after weeks of steady upward movement.
It is important to add that the breakout came as whale investors increased their exposure.
DeFi Development Corp, a Nasdaq-listed company, announced a new purchase of 407,247 SOL worth about $77 million.
The average purchase price was $188.98 per coin. With this, the company’s total Solana holdings rose to 1.83 million coins, valued at around $371 million.
The firm said the new coins would be staked with different validators, including its own in-house systems.
This step aimed to earn yield and build deeper links to the Solana network.
The company also reported that its holdings had grown by 29% compared to earlier levels, confirming a steady build-up of its treasury.
Institutional Demand Drives Accumulation
Notably, DeFi Development Corp became the largest publicly traded holder of Solana in July. The firm reached a rare milestone among SOL treasury firms by passing the one million token mark.
Likewise, the new purchase has now placed it well above that level with reports also pointing to more interest from other institutions.
Three large firms are reportedly working on a $1 billion fund to build the biggest Solana treasury so far, with Cantor Fitzgerald as the lead banker.
This showed that demand for Solana was not limited to one player but was spreading across the financial sector.
In another development, Nasdaq-listed Mercurity Fintech secured a $200 million credit facility from Solana Ventures.
The facility would be used to create its own Solana treasury, adding to signs that several companies were moving in the same direction.
These moves had a direct effect on the market price. After the purchase, Solana rose 4.28% to $217.08.
However, as of writing, CoinMarketCap data showed that SOL was down by 2.56%, trading at $207.51.
Technical Levels and Network Upgrade Support Outlook
Charts also gave traders reason to stay positive. Solana moved back above its 7-day simple moving average of $201.56 and broke a pivot level at $210.83.
Analysts believe that if the price holds above $220, the next targets could be between $232 and $253 based on Fibonacci extensions.
The Solana network itself also made progress with the Alpenglow upgrade which was introduced to reduce block finality time.
It aimed to cut it from 12.8 seconds to just 150 milliseconds. The change was under governance voting across epochs 840–842.
Earlier in the year, this upgrade helped Solana recover past the $200 level with renewed sentiment.
Notably, the breakout, fresh institutional interest, and ongoing upgrades gave Solana a strong base for growth.
While some analysts pointed to a possible move toward $300, they also noted that holding above support levels would be key.
With more companies adding Solana to their balance sheets, traders will continue to watch whether the token can sustain its current momentum.
