UK and US Push for Closer Crypto Cooperation Under Reeves and Bessent

As per the latest reports, the UK aims to improve cooperation with the USA on crypto and digital asset matters. The European nation could adopt a crypto-friendly stance to promote innovation and safe crypto adoption.

Stablecoins Central to US–UK Talks

The crypto advocacy groups are urging the United Kingdom government to be more open towards the fast-growing crypto industry. They believe the UK lags in innovation due to the government’s cautious approach.

As per the reputed sources, stablecoins could be in any deal between the two nations. President Trump takes a special interest in this area of crypto. His government is considered a pro-crypto government.

From eliminating Operation Checkpoint 2.0 to passing the Genius Act, the Trump administration has developed a more crypto-friendly environment in the USA. Conversely, crypto advocacy groups have criticized the UK government time and again.

The Bank of England proposed to limit systematic stablecoin holdings by individuals between 10K and 20K British pounds. Crypto advocacy groups slammed that proposal, claiming it could be costly.

UK Moves Toward Stricter but Open Rules

As per the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA), 12% of adults hold crypto in the UK. Many of those investors have reported that the local banks are slow at crypto adoption. According to a survey, many investors reported that their banks delayed or blocked payments made to a crypto provider.

Delayed or blocked payments affect people’s crypto interests. They could miss great investment opportunities before the tokens surge. However, everything is not too bad for the crypto community in the United Kingdom.

The island country has recently improved its crypto regulations. It introduced a framework that would treat crypto dealers, exchanges, and agents as traditional finance firms. There would be solid compliance checks to ensure consumer protection and transparency.

UK Chancellor Reeves believes it is essential to align crypto rules with the USA’s closely, closelyas pushed for a US-UK regulatory working group on crypto and digital assets. She believes it could draw greater American investment.

Rachel Reeves believes that international co-operation is essential if the UK aims to be a global leader in digital assets. Improved alignment with the US can provide UK-based firms access to more liquid financial markets. Thus, the UK firms won’t lag behind regulatory developments.

The UK Government’s Mixed Stance on Crypto

The UK government may appear pro-crypto since it is strengthening its ties with the US on crypto matters. It is not, though! The British government has followed a cautious regulatory approach, which is growth-oriented. It aims to foster innovation without risking consumer protection or financial stability.

The UK’s Treasury, Financial Conduct Authority, and Bank of England are developing regulatory frameworks. Those frameworks will enable the use of stablecoins for payments, and they will license crypto firms in the country.

It is a positive sign for the crypto community that the government consistently engages with crypto advocacy groups, large exchanges, and fintech trade bodies. The UK’s alignment with the US on crypto rules will offer better regulatory certainty and access to global markets.
