The Tron (TRX) crypto has continued to gain attention for its explosive growth in its Tether (USDT stablecoin supply. Tron has overtaken Ethereum as the top chain for USDT, with 78.58 billion tokens issued in the past six years.
TRX, the native digital asset of the Tron blockchain, has clearly benefited from the USDT surging supply.
USDT on Tron Crypto Surge 309x in 6 Years
As revealed by CryptoQuant, USDT supply on the Tron blockchain has grown to $78.58 billion. This represents a 309 times growth in just six years.
More USDT on TRON means stable liquidity flowing through the network. USDT is the world’s largest stablecoin, pegged to the US dollar at a 1.1 ratio.
The stablecoin is used for trading, remittances, DeFi, and to prevent volatility in crypto markets. USDT exists on multiple blockchains, including Ethereum, Solana, and Tron.
The Tron mainnet was still young six years ago, having launched in mid-2018.
In 2019, Tron founder Justin Sun celebrated reaching 254 million USDT in circulation on Tron, with a target to hit 300 million.
Fast forward to today, the circulating supply of USDT on Tron has skyrocketed to $78.58 billion.
To put this into perspective, Tron currently hosts nearly 50% of the total USDT in circulation, valued at approximately $178 billion.

Note that the Tron blockchain is optimized for high throughput and near-zero fees. These attributes made it appealing to exchanges, DeFi platforms, and users in cost-sensitive regions, such as Africa and Latin America.
CryptoQuant also noted that the USDT supply and the Tron price often exhibit a strong correlation. In the past six years, TRX increased from $0.0155 to $0.338 amid the surging USDT supply on Tron.
Meanwhile, Tron TVL recently reached $6.377 billion, while active addresses climbed to 18.23 million. This coincides with a 28% increase in the price of TRX.
Tron in Cooling Phase
As of this writing, TRX is priced at $0.3344, down 0.74% over the past 24 hours. The value of TRX has also decreased by 2.3% over the past 7 days and 0.72% on the monthly charts.
CryptoQuant analyst Burak Kesmeci commented in a QuickTake post that TRX is entering a cooling phase in spot trading activity.
During the cooling phase, volume shrinks, often after a sell-off peak. This suggests exhausted traders stepping back, leading to lower volatility.
However, this phase usually precedes accumulation and upward breakouts rather than further downside for TRX.
Kesmeci concluded that TRX price is likely hibernating as it awaits the next rally. The analyst views this as the calm before the storm, an early indication of a strong price recovery.
Analyzing TRX price in Ongoing Market Consolidation
Intriguingly, the latest price decline is not peculiar to Tron crypto. It comes amid broader market volatility.
Bitcoin (BTC), the leading market coin by market cap, has seen its price drop 0.76% over the previous day. Note that the coin hit a new all-time high of $126,025 on October 6, 2025.
Market analysts have attributed the declining BTC price to macroeconomic shifts, especially in the U.S, and panic selling. Some even predicted that BTC could fall to as low as $108,000 if the $120,000 level breaks hard.
Meanwhile, top altcoins, including Ethereum (ETH), Solana (SOL), XRP, and Binance Coin (BNB), are also experiencing downtrends.
Ethereum is down 0.5% in the past 24 hours, SOL dropped 1.2%, BNB decreased by 2.5%, and XRP plunged 0.2%.
Nevertheless, the market might be in a cooling phase as it awaits the next big shift to regain momentum.
