Bitcoin Price Slides Toward $82K as $1.9B Long Liquidations Trigger Capitulation Talk

Key Insights

• Bitcoin faced $1.9B liquidations as liquidity clusters vanished below spot.

• RSI reached deeply oversold levels not seen since early-year prints.

• Analysts warned Bitcoin must reclaim $88K to avoid deeper downside risk.

Bitcoin price fell toward $82,000 on Thursday after heavy long liquidations shocked the market and wiped out more than $1.9 billion in 24 hours. Traders monitored the sharp breakdown as liquidation clusters vanished below spot, creating what several analysts called a “final capitulation” zone. Sentiment weakened further after the daily Relative Strength Index reached deeply oversold levels.

The move followed aggressive selling that hit the market within minutes. Several traders on X described it as coordinated pressure designed to flush overleveraged long positions and force liquidity lower.

Analysts Flag Liquidation Shock as Bitcoin Price Tests Key Levels

Ash Crypto said “cartels have liquidated almost every Bitcoin long,” adding that “there’s literally no liquidity cluster below at this moment.” He argued that the liquidation sweep resembled a forced flush rather than a natural correction.

In a separate post, he claimed a “$1 billion” wipeout occurred “in the past 60 minutes,” calling it “pure market manipulation.” His comments aligned with broader market data showing a heavy cascade of liquidations across major derivatives platforms.

Crypto Rover compared the event to historic selloffs. He noted that the Covid crash caused $1.2 billion in liquidations, the FTX collapse saw $1.6 billion, and the latest figure hit $1.9 billion. The comparison placed the current breakdown among the harshest liquidation periods of the last five years.

Ted, another trader, said Bitcoin “nearly touched the $81,000 level” and warned that the price “needs to reclaim the $88,000 level soon” to avoid dropping toward the April lows. His comments focused on the reclaim zone that traders now see as a pivot for sentiment.

Coin Bureau highlighted extreme technical pressure, noting that Bitcoin’s daily RSI “plunged into oversold territory” to a reading “even lower than February’s print.” The observation added weight to the idea that Bitcoin price may have reached exhaustion after the month-long downtrend.

Fresh Liquidity Forms Ahead of a Potential Short Squeeze

CryptosRus reported $1.91 billion in liquidations over a 24-hour period, citing Coinglass data. According to him, $1.78 billion were from long positions and $128 million from shorts. He said fresh liquidity built on the topside and suggested that “markets chase liquidity,” implying that the price could revisit higher ranges once the downside imbalance clears.

He framed the downturn as temporary, adding that some traders “panic sell” while “conviction buyers accumulate.” His comments reflected a recurring pattern seen during deep drawdowns, where spot buyers reposition into weakness.

0xNobler used stronger language, calling the event “a coordinated move” after claiming an “insider cabal just sold over $1 billion BTC in 10 minutes.” He described it as a targeted attempt to hit $82,000 and liquidate retail longs, echoing claims of forced selling across the ecosystem.

Lookonchain pointed to the liquidation of Andrew Tate’s positions on Hyperliquid. Tate reportedly “opened another long on BTC today — and got liquidated again in just an hour.” Lookonchain added that this marked Tate’s “84th liquidation” on the platform, demonstrating the extent of overleveraged trading during the decline.

That Martini Guy reacted emotionally, asking, “Who keeps selling?” and expressing exhaustion with the price action. His reaction captured the retail frustration seen during broad selloffs.

Macro Indicators Now Mirror Deep Correction Patterns

Ali Charts said Bitcoin’s weekly SuperTrend indicator flipped bearish. He noted that the tool “has a long history of correctly signaling major trend shifts.” According to him, each bearish flip historically preceded “a sizable correction,” a pattern visible for more than a decade.

The SuperTrend shift aligned with the multimonth descending channel visible on the daily chart. Bitcoin price has traded inside the structure since early Oct., forming lower highs and lower lows. The latest breakdown pushed Bitcoin price below the channel’s midline and toward the lower boundary, reinforcing the bearish setup.

A Nexo-based lending report showed Bitcoin collateral rising toward 60 percent, implying stronger borrower positioning. Retail borrowing stayed elevated, with withdrawals ranging between $200 million and $280 million per quarter. Loanbook growth also returned above $2 billion in Q3 2025 without higher loan-to-value ratios.

Those metrics indicated that borrowing activity remained steady even as market volatility increased. Users continued to return, with a repeat borrowing rate of 58 percent in 2023/2024 and an early reading of 52 percent for 2025.

Bitcoin Price Faces a Heavy Reclaim Task After Steep Shakeout

Traders now monitor whether Bitcoin price can reclaim $88,000. The level aligns with short-term liquidity maps and marks the first resistance above the latest liquidation wick. A failed reclaim could reopen the path toward the April lows, as Ted warned.

For now, volatility remains high. Analysts remain divided on whether this marks a final capitulation or another stage in the downtrend. The oversold RSI, heavy liquidations, and descending-channel structure suggest both exhaustion and caution as Bitcoin price attempts to stabilize.
