Bitcoin price traded near $82,800 on October 19 as MARA-linked wallets transferred another 1,000 BTC to cryptocurrency exchanges. Blockchain analytics platform Lookonchain valued the transactions at approximately $82.8 million.
The deposits renewed attention to MARA Holdings’ Bitcoin treasury strategy following substantial sales earlier this year. However, the blockchain transfers do not establish that the mining company completed another sale.
Meanwhile, Strategy Executive Chairman Michael Saylor maintained a bullish outlook as technical analysts monitored resistance near $83,400 and $85,000.
MARA Bitcoin Transfers Raise Questions About Further Sales
According to Lookonchain, wallets linked to MARA sent Bitcoin to Binance and Gate through multiple transactions. Exchange deposits can precede asset sales, but wallet movements alone cannot establish a completed trade. The available records do not show whether MARA exchanged the coins for cash or moved them for another purpose.
The Bitcoin news follows another transfer earlier this month. On October 8, a MARA-linked address moved approximately 996 BTC, valued at nearly $81 million, to a wallet associated with Galaxy Digital. MARA has not publicly explained the purpose of the October transfers. Transfers to trading firms can also involve custody changes or collateral arrangements.
MARA Previously Sold Bitcoin to Fund Operations
MARA sold 23,093 BTC for roughly $1.63 billion during the first six months of 2026, according to its second-quarter financial report. The Bitcoin sales provided cash for daily operations and debt repayments.
MARA also revised its treasury policy earlier this year, giving the company more flexibility to sell Bitcoin from its reserves. Previously, its sales focused on newly mined coins. By June 30, MARA held 35,577 BTC, compared with 53,822 BTC at the close of 2025.
The company also used Bitcoin for lending and secured borrowing. Its June holdings included 4,742 BTC loaned to counterparties and 4,528 BTC pledged as collateral. MARA subsequently arranged $600 million in additional Bitcoin-backed financing with Coinbase and Two Prime.
During the second quarter, MARA mined 2,422 BTC and sold 2,213 BTC at an average price of $73,078.
MARA also reported second-quarter revenue of $174.9 million and a quarterly net loss of $611.3 million. MARA has been expanding into artificial intelligence and high-performance computing infrastructure alongside Bitcoin mining. Management previously said it could sell additional Bitcoin depending on liquidity needs, market conditions, and capital spending.
