A Trump Media-backed Bitcoin ETF has entered SEC review, tying political branding to digital asset markets as U.S. election season heats up.

Trump-Affiliated ETF Bids for SEC Approval

A new Bitcoin ETF branded under Donald Trump’s Truth Social is seeking approval. The SEC is currently reviewing the proposal. If approved, it will trade in the U.S. markets.

On June 3, the New York Stock Exchange Arca submitted a 19b-4 filing for the Truth Social Bitcoin ETF. Yorkville America Digital will manage the fund. It is a digital asset firm partnered with Trump Media & Technology Group (TMTG)—the parent company behind Truth Social.

The ETF seeks to track the spot price of Bitcoin and trade on NYSE Arca if approved. The filing listed Foris DAX Trust Company, affiliated with Crypto.com, as the proposed custodian. Neither a fee structure nor a ticker was disclosed.

The SEC must issue a response within 45 days. However, the review period can be extended to 240 days. The final decision deadline is set for January 29, 2026.

Trump’s Expanding Crypto Portfolio

Donald Trump was the majority owner of TMTG. Before returning to the White House, he transferred his holdings to a trust. Donald Trump Jr now manages the trust. However, TMTG remains closely associated with Trump’s public brand and media ventures.

This Bitcoin ETF filing is part of a broader crypto push tied to Trump’s business ventures. In April, Trump Media partnered with Yorkville America Digital and Crypto.com. This partnership was initiated to launch a “Made in America” digital asset ETF series.

The filings mark another attempt to bring politically branded financial products into the digital asset space. In February, the same company filed for a separate fund, the “Truth.Fi Bitcoin Plus ETF.”

This could tap into the $250 Million allocated to Trump Media’s fintech vertical. Trump Media is also developing its crypto payments infrastructure through Truth+, its video streaming platform.

CEO Devin Nunes informed shareholders in April that the firm is considering a utility token for Truth+ subscriptions. The token may also be used for other services within the Truth ecosystem.

Controversy Follows the Crypto Pivot

Trump’s growing influence in crypto has raised questions over potential conflicts of interest. Critics argue that his involvement in digital assets, including NFTs and stablecoins, may create conflicts of interest.

They warn that this could interfere with his presidential duties. Concerns also exist about maintaining regulatory impartiality in the crypto sector.

So far, Trump-linked crypto ventures include multiple NFT collections, two memecoins, a stablecoin initiative, and involvement in a mining operation. The new ETF application adds to this expanding ecosystem, potentially placing the Trump brand deeper into financial markets.

Despite the controversy, Trump has repeatedly framed crypto as a freedom-centric alternative to centralized finance. It is a narrative that resonates with part of his political base.

Entering a Crowded ETF Market

If approved, the Truth Social Bitcoin ETF will join a competitive market led by asset managers like BlackRock. BlackRock’s iShares Bitcoin Trust (IBIT) manages nearly $69 Billion in assets.

It holds the largest share of spot Bitcoin ETF inflows in the U.S. This makes it a dominant player in the growing Bitcoin investment market.

Eleven spot Bitcoin ETFs now operate in the U.S., creating a saturated market for any new entrant. The Truth Social Bitcoin ETF might use the Trump brand’s visibility and partisan appeal to attract investors. However, this approach comes with potential reputational risks.

In a June 3 post on X (formerly Twitter), Bloomberg ETF analyst Eric Balchunas confirmed the SEC filing. He added, “The Trump angle certainly adds spice to the spot ETF space, but approval will depend on the usual rules—not the branding.”

Political and Financial Stakes Ahead

Launching a Trump-linked Bitcoin ETF raises crypto regulation and political finance stakes. The SEC’s decision could serve as a litmus test for how far political branding can extend into regulated markets.

As U.S. elections approach, crypto is becoming a key policy issue. The ETF could face scrutiny beyond just technical aspects. It enters the public arena not only as a financial product but also as a politically symbolic one.

The Truth Social Bitcoin ETF filing is a new step in the involvement of Trump Media with digital assets. Regardless of approval, it reflects Trump’s growing connection to crypto.

His influence continues to shape both political and financial landscapes. The line between political capital and crypto capital is becoming increasingly blurred.
