Bitcoin BTC Longs Surge as Traders Brace for FOMC Volatility

Bitcoin BTC has been stable, as the Bitcoin price traded around $116K as of press time, up close to 1% for the day. It has been holding its level over an important support zone, as markets gear up for an even greater market action around the next Federal Open Market Committee (FOMC) declaration.

Analysts resorted to stability as a significant indicator ahead of possible volatility associated with the policy guidance of the Federal Reserve.

Long Positions Rise as Market Positions for Event Risk

The derivatives exchange data showed that long positions on BTC have increased significantly. It may suggest more confidence among traders or hedging positions prior to the release of the FOMC.

CoinGlass data shows clusters of buys and sales, well-liquidized between $114000 and $117000. Orders around $117,000 played a huge role in holding the resistance and breaching. Bids around the $114,000 mark acted as an indication of a support level for buyers.

The intensity of orders is a sign that the market is about to take a major step. Market participants are anticipating a big price move as soon as the Fed’s action is announced.

Past experiences indicate that FOMC days tend to attract high Bitcoin trading operations, just like the movements in traditional markets.

Institutions Flocking to Bitcoin BTC Markets

On-chain evidence showed large Bitcoin transactions associated with institutional trade. On September 17, multiple exchanges allegedly issued a new wallet that was originally given 5,817 BTC, valued at about $680 million.

Analysts observed that a small test transfer was done before the entire transaction was effected. It pointed to intentional accumulation instead of internal adjustment of the exchange. This inflow was in line with the FOMC’s expectations.

It underscores the interest in the rejuvenation of large entities at times of probable volatility.

Tracking services also reported additional activity of the whales, with a series of transactions by the hot wallet of FalconX. There was a record of 500 BTC transfers, with each transfer containing 57.9 million dollars.

Such uniform movements indicate more positioning by institutional players who are trying to deal with exposure before the policy meeting.

Historical Trends Favor Post-FOMC Upside

Bitcoin analysts say that frequent notable rallies have been held since 2020, except the downturn in 2022.

Lark Davis pointed out that this is a time when the strength of the price does not pertain to the changes in the rate as much, but rather it pertains to the historical market seasonality. This usually leads to so-called Uptober, as traders refer to them.

As indicated by Dean Crypto Trades, it is true that since the local high in December 2019, Bitcoin has been performing fairly average against the rest of the assets.

S&P 500 rose 9% and gold 36% in the same period, whereas Bitcoin gained only 7%. Analysts reasoned that this compression would allow the possibility of a larger move in case the condition continued to be favourable.

Ether will also be able to take part, provided it breaks through the $5,000 mark and gets into price discovery.

Analysts were optimistic that the overall technical position of Bitcoin would be constructive, even in the short term, despite the uncertainty. The term is known as Uptober, a regular rally in the crypto community that occurs in October.

Bitcoin BTC price trades above a key figure ahead of the FOMC, and liquidity accumulates in greater amounts. So, market watchers believe it can gain momentum through the fourth quarter if the market situations work out.
