Kraken co-CEO Arjun Sethi said that the exchange would donate $1 million to the Freedom Fund (Digital Freedom Fund) PAC and would add its 2025 pledge to America First Digital to $1 million. This combined would mean 2 million in political contributions towards pro-crypto advocacy.
Sethi described the donations as the struggle to protect the fundamental rights of people in the digital era, and the war on crypto in the United States was not yet concluded.

He presented certain policy issues such as regulatory uncertainty, high-profile enforcement actions, attempts to criminalize infrastructure, and the prohibition of privacy tools. Sethi posted those comments to announce the contributions.
Who Will Receive the Funds
The mentioned recipients are the Digital Freedom Fund PAC (also referred to as Freedom Fund) and America First Digital. The publicly listed leadership of America First Digital has Jason Thielman as its leader and Kristin Walker as a senior advisor.
Walker once worked as a chief of staff to Senator Cynthia Lummis. The activity of the Senate and House related to a Strategic Bitcoin Reserve has been one of the recent centers of attention on the part of organizations that are in line with the lawmakers.
In March 2025, Sen. Cynthia Lummis reintroduced the BITCOIN Act, which would guide the acquisition of one million bitcoins over a period of many years, a position that market participants would equate to about 80 billion dollars at current market levels. The bill, first mentioned in 2024, has been published in the congressional record and was reported by sponsors and media in this spring.

Kraken’s donation came after a surge of contributions to pro-crypto and pro-Republican political action committees. In Aug. 2025, Gemini co-founders Tyler and Cameron Winklevoss sent 188.45 Bitcoin, then worth $21 million, to the new Digital Freedom Fund PAC. The group tied its mission to Donald Trump’s crypto agenda. Outlets and the donors highlighted the transfer on social media.
Meanwhile, industry efforts moved much larger sums. Fairshake, a pro-crypto super PAC active in past election cycles, drew major backing from Coinbase, Ripple, and venture capital firm Andreessen Horowitz. Reports and filings show the group’s spending reached the high-eight-figure to low-nine-figure range in each cycle.
Sethi Cites Enforcement and Legal Backdrop
Sethi linked his contribution to a tough regulatory climate. He cited recent prosecutions of privacy-focused crypto infrastructure developers and operators. Federal filings and Department of Justice releases detailed criminal charges and guilty pleas involving mixers and privacy tools.
In July and Aug. 2025, prosecutors secured convictions and guilty pleas in several mixer-related cases. These actions received wide media coverage. Sethi said the cases influenced his decision to donate.
Court records show prosecutors tied mixer activity to illicit proceeds. They pursued charges under laws covering unlicensed money transmission and money-laundering conspiracies. As a result, privacy-oriented services remain squarely in the government’s legal crosshairs.
