Corporate entities reduced their Bitcoin accumulation in October, with less than 15,000 BTC added, according to a report by Bitcoin Treasuries. Public and private companies combined to buy only 14,400 BTC last month.
This represents the smallest amount of Bitcoin BTC bought by corporate entities in a month in 2025. It is also a marked decline of over 60% from the 38,038 BTC purchased in September.
What is Driving the Decline in Corporate Demand
The decline in corporate Bitcoin accumulation for October is not completely surprising. It continues a trend that started in August when the month-over-month purchases fell to 48,780 BTC from 103,736 BTC in July.
Over the past four months, the number of acquired BTC has consistently declined. However, the decline last month has been particularly significant, with private companies only buying around 3.5 BTC compared to the 8,151 BTC added to their treasuries in September.

The decline in corporate interest in BTC is due to several factors. However, the most significant is that public companies no longer have access to the capital that fueled previous ravenous purchases.
Several digital asset treasuries (DATs) companies acquired Bitcoin using a mix of debt and private equity over the past six months. However, most of these companies have seen their stock value drop significantly, with many of them now trading below the price at which they raised private equity.
Their poor stock performance, coupled with the decline in Bitcoin prices, has affected their mNAV. This has forced some of these companies, such as Kindly MD (NAKA), to now trade at a discount to their net asset value.
With mNAV declining, many DATs are now facing pressure that has caused them to ease up on buying. The impact has affected every Bitcoin treasury company, including Strategy (MSTR). The company, which holds over 600,000 BTC, has eased on purchases in recent weeks, with each of its last eight purchases being below 1,000 BTC.
Bitcoin Holdings by Institutions Reach 4.05 Million as Demand Impact Bitcoin BTC Price
Despite the recent drop in corporate appetite, the amount of BTC held by institutions has now reached 4.05 million. Public companies alone hold 1.05 million BTC, while private companies have 279,185 BTC.
Bitcoin exchange-traded funds (ETFs) and exchanges also control 1.54 million BTC, while governments held 644,329 BTC. Interestingly, Japanese DAT, Metaplanet, was the biggest corporate purchaser of BTC last month with 5,268 BTC. By comparison, Strategy only bought 777 BTC throughout October.
Meanwhile, the decline in corporate accumulation of Bitcoin contributed to its recent price decline amid selling pressure. The flagship asset fell as low as $99,000 this month, amidst volatility driven by sell-offs over several months.
The volatility has continued in the last 24 hours with Bitcoin falling to $101,000. However, analysts believe a turnaround could be on the horizon, especially as accumulation by whales is starting to pick up again.
