Gold Price Hits Record High as Bitcoin Lags, Fueling Rotation Bets

Gold has hit a new all-time high, continuing a strong multi-month rally. Bitcoin, however, is still lagging despite improving liquidity conditions. Investors are paying close attention to signals indicating a shift in capital from gold to Bitcoin.

Gold Price Leads as Liquidity Conditions Improve

Gold’s recent breakout above prior highs is a reflection of good demand, with easing financial conditions. Analysts attribute the move to improving worldwide liquidity. Historical data suggest that gold tends to react first when monetary conditions are favourable.

According to market commentary shared by Bull Theory, gold is usually the leader during early liquidity expansions. In the past cycles, gold rallied while Bitcoin was range-bound. That trend occurred during the 2016-2017 and 2020-2021 market phases.

During those periods, gold had strengthened first after monetary easing had started. Bitcoin price came much later, usually following gold momentum slowing. This pattern has been repeated during several macrocycles.

Bitcoin Price Stagnates Despite Positive Backing

At press time, the Bitcoin price was consolidating around 87,500, a 2% drop in the last 24 hours. However, Bitcoin is yet to confirm a clear trend reversal. Price action is muted compared to gold’s recent acceleration.

Several analysts noted that the Bitcoin price tends to respond with a delay. Bull Theory emphasized the fact that Bitcoin did not pull past liquidity-driven cycles. Instead, Bitcoin followed gold after capital came off metals. That changed when the gold momentum broke down near cycle highs.

Current conditions are similar to those of historical setups. The Federal Reserve has already made several rate cuts. Meanwhile, global measures of money supply are still close to record levels.

Despite this backdrop, Bitcoin still fails to outperform gold. Traders describe the move as a lag, rather than any contraction. This trend is consistent with other earlier phases of previous cycles.

Bitcoin to Gold Ratio Returns to Key Historical Level

The Bitcoin-to-Gold ratio is back in the same old zone. One Bitcoin is now equivalent to about 15 ounces of gold. This level has served as a pivot point in previous cycles.

CryptoELITES mentioned that this ratio was previously used to mark trend transitions. In the past, Bitcoin had either stabilized or reversed after hitting this zone. However, the ratio makes no guarantee of immediate upside.

Price action recently lost its upward trend on the ratio chart. Bitcoin subsequently recovered to that level and is trading sideways. Analysts warn that such setups need patience instead of prediction.

Sometimes the ratio holds, and Bitcoin gets stronger. Other times, the level breaks prior to a recovery. Market structure rather than sentiment is at the center.

Market Capitalization Gap Suggests Rotation Potential

Gold’s market allocation is now close to $31 trillion. The market cap of Bitcoin is still close to $1.8 trillion. The disparity continues to attract long-term comparison narratives.

Bull Theory estimated that gold added about $17 trillion in 2 years. That is a greater increase than several major national economies. Bitcoin has not yet matched that same scale of inflows.

Analysts say that even partial rotation has the potential to hit Bitcoin hard. A move towards 30% of the market cap of gold would be major upside. Such projections are still at the theoretical stage, and the timescale is uncertain.

D Future Money echoed some similar views on the dynamics of capital rotation. According to the analyst, the gold price rally is extreme and potentially overextended. Bitcoin, on the other hand, is still far below its previous all-time high.

Historically, capital has moved once the momentum of gold has cooled. That rotation frequently fueled great advances in Bitcoin. Analysts emphasize that confirmation is more important than anticipation.

Meanwhile, investors are now keeping an eye on gold for signs of exhaustion. Overbought conditions may cause consolidation or sell-offs. Such pauses are often associated with wider rotation of assets.

Bitcoin traders are still observing range behavior and volatility compression. A prolonged breakout would indicate renewed participation. Up to that point, patience reigns in the market strategy.
